I had to drill one of mine out, I used the tiny drill that came with my dremel tool, took me a minute to go through the head, screw and shaft.

Maybe your car got the optional heavy duty DT package? =)

The type of bits you use can make a difference. The cheap black ones suck for drilling on metal. They get worn down in no time. I have a set of cobalt ones that rip through metal way better (but they're much more expensive).

Get better bits, go slow and use 3 in 1 oil on the bit to keep from burning them up.

Most people try to drill metal at way too high an RPM. The average hand drill is made to drill wood.

You don't need to buy expensive bits, those screws are soft. Just slow it way down and use a little oil.
