Does anyone know how to do the mod where the doors open up? I am curious as to what it takes to do that...I know a lot of work...but is there some sort of kit?
Has anyone done it? I saw this pictures and was intereseted!

Drool...

Do a search for scissor door conversion or something like that here in the 3rd gen section and you'll find another thread about it. It's a kit by REAmeniya done in Japan only, big $$, but I think somone said that there are people here in the US that can do it.

you're gonna have to ship your car to RE Amemiya in Japan, and shell out PHAT BANK! or you can find a really really really good body shop guy / customizer that will do this. again...hella $$$, but you dont have to ship your car to Japan.

i really like these style doors. i give it a 10/10 for the factor!

Check this thread...

https://www.rx7club.com/vforums/show...threadid=35224

Dan is having major work done to his FD by the shop listed. One mod is the scissor doors. They are actually going to use CF doors to decrease their weight and make the mod more doable without significant reinforcement that is required with the RE conversion.

It will be interesting to see how his car turns out.

There was another thread about those doors back over the summer. Someone posted up a shop in Florida that would do the conversion for about $3500 a door. Do a seach and you should find the thread with the shop info in it.

Has anyone seen design diagrams for these scissor doors? Like where re-inforcement is needed in the car. What types of doors are needed? or are the doors made to meet the needs (carbon fiber)? Can FD carbon fiber doors be ordered? It looks like that blue car has shaved handles. Is that a necesitity for this?

Can someone help me out please. I really like the body kit on the RE-Amemiya car can someone tell me all the parts I would need to complete the body besides the lights and the hood? I've been to a website but the pictures are not good so I can't tell the right parts.

Thanks Gun

Carbon Fiber Door Construction

I'll take a few pics of the doors before they get completely finished so you guys can see the reinforcement, window track, and how they're being made. Don't get too excited though, this is going to take a while. Unlike most carbon products (like most hoods) we will be using carbon fiber sheets only, not carbon-fiber wrapped over fiberglass. I might even use Carbon-Kevlar on the outer door skins so I can make them stronger. The roll cage should be plenty of protection, but I'd hate to take a side impact and have the doors crack in half on me. There's the money issue too, I'm not as rich as you all may think, just have good friends in the business, so this may take longer than I'd hoped. I've already sold my motorcycles and my Goped to help fund this little project. :p

That's an old Amemiya kit. It's the regular AD Facer nose, AD front fender, AD D-2 side skirts, AD rear fender trim, AD rear skirts, and Type III wing. God bless Amemiya-san ... All is great, except I don't like wings!

I have contact info at home...I'll post when I get back from work.

They use the standard door but have to weld some serious hardware to the frame for support.

I'll post info as soon as I get it. I've seen several DSM's with scissor doors so if they can do it so can we.
