Any one know where I can find a brand new door handle? Mine broke on thursday and I would like to replace it new if I can. I figure if I buy used its just going to break on me again a lot sooner than I would like.

Any takers? Thanks guys.

You should be able to order it through mazda. Mine broke at the JCI place (the JCI guy broke it). All i need to do is bring my title down to the Mazda dealership and he will order me a new one with my lock already installed, no swapping. try that...

I would get a used one from JP, try jason at JT-imports. The reason it probably broke was from age and no oil. Mine tend to lock up each winter. By lock up I mean get tighter. I remove from the door and spray a little WD-40 on the springs and latching mechanism and they work great. This winter I tried something new Lithium Grease it seems to be working better.

Sounds like you guys want to drop the big bucks on new stuff, but I have a wrecked '93 in the garage with about 90K that has good door handles. I would sell them for $50 each shipped, or $90 for the pair. Should be able to just swap out the lock cylinders so your key will work.

I haven't had any break on my FD's, but I know they can be a problem. PM me if you are interested.

IM ghetto

Yea,

about a month after owning my car, the handle broke off because it locked up so I just gave it a little bit harder of a pull and SNAP..... I didnt want to pay 250 nor did I want to go through the passenger side door..

What I did, was drill a 3mm hole in a specific area, where the plastic part on the handle joins with the plastic part that tugs on the open mechanisim..... its confusing but I made it work after about 3 hours of looking at it.. I screwed a normal screw in, dremmled off the end, sanded it, bondoed it and painted it

looks decent, not noticeable other than by me... and it works great, I can tug the **** out of it and it stays strong !!!!!!!!!

I have met yet another broken handle problem now that isnt as easy to fix. The freaking glove compartment handle broke off... and this one wont be so easy, I'm pissed.. if somone has one for sale pm me pLZZZ!

I've seen handles break too. Usually the problem is the handle mechanism is really dry/no lube.

It is really EASY to lube the handle linkage and hinges. Pop off the inside cover to the handle, just pulls right off. Remove the two 10mm nuts, the handle will flop out of the door. Becareful not to let it scratch the paint. Move the handle a few times and notice where it pivots, etc. You can use motor oil or white lithium grease (available in a spray can at the parts store). The oil works better faster, the grease works longer.

Button everything back up!

Give it a try, you might be surprised how well the door handles will work after this. You can do both sides in probably 10-15 min TOTAL. It is really easy.

why handles break

Actually guys.. I know ther reason the handles lock up. I spent about 3 hours looking at my whole door mechanism... There is a plastic part inside, that is supposed to keep the handle from going all the way shut.... Hard to explain, it keeps the spring mechanism from straigtening out and keeps it a little bent so its much easier to pull when its bent then straight and the force applied is different.... but, to sum it up. There is a plastic part that after years of abuse gets worn down or can even break off, I fixed this by putting a tiny screw in place of it to hold the metal part that controls the handle to spring, I have no grease or any wd-40 on the mechanisms and it works great... if you take it apart you will understand what Im talking about. Its realy easy to get to the mechanism.

Hi Kris (Suprfast), MY Driver's side door handle just broke 15 min ago!... F--K!! Over time, it was progressively getting tighter, and I lifted it up with too much force...and SNAP! My keyhole is also very gritty/sandy hard turning also(broken white flap)....would like to replace it too.

I would like to replace my driver's side door handle at a reduced cost. If it's not too late to help me out too, I would greatly appreciate it! You can email me at rockygraziano@comcast.net. Is this an easy job to do myself?

It seems it's one thing after another with my 94 FD.....getting depressed. I need a new radio, oil sensor, new belts, has low idle, and my Greddy muffler is always popping when I let my foot off the gas at low speeds, and ever since I replaced my antennae mast, it's been makeing a horrible screeching noise...it's embarrasing. Constant F--CKING problems.

Anything you can do, would be very helpful and and greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Wayne

Hey Dragueur,

I don't know if you ever got an answer or figured it out for yourself, but this is very easy to do. After 3 repairs w/ JB Weld, each one holding less time (initial repair lasted over a year by the way) I finally gave up and ordered a new one from Mazdaformance
Mine didn't come with new lock cylinders, but basically the cylinder is just pressed into the hole and held in place with a little clip. The only thing I would say is pay attention to the orientation of the cylinder, because for some reason it wasn't immediately obvious to me how it was supposed to go in.
