Does mazda make a tool for pulling tranny bearings?
I'm specifically looking for a tool that can pull the big bearing off the output shaft to get to the 5th gear syncro. I guess i could look it up in the FSM, but i'm at work and don't have it front of me.
If there isn't a tool or if you have an easy way to do it without the tool, please post and let me know.

Easiest way to do it is get two big pry bars and get a friend to help. Put the ends of the pry bars on the inner race of the bearing and make sure to stay on it and both pry up slowly. I have had them where you couldnt budge them and had to heat them. It is only $16.00 shipped from malloy so if you damage the bearing no real harm is done, however, it is rare for one to require more effort than the two pry bars and a friend.
Most gear pullers have to short flat metal pieces that each arm is sandwiched between. You can buy a normal gear puller and make arm extensions out of the same size flat bar. You can pick up the right size flat bar at home depot.

That's what I did and it worked quite well. Mazda does have a special tool for this but it's expensive.
Yes mazda does make a tool.... But it's way to expensive. I believe it's $599 or something, I can't remember exactly. I made all my own tools for tranny rebuilds! See pictures for example

looking at those pics makes me think I could rebuild my trans myself if I ever feel I need to. After all, I am a BMW master tech, LOL! but that actually doesn't mean a whole lot towards transmissions. BMW doesn't let us go any deeper than a valve body on an auto, and pretty much nothing internal on a manual.

If you have any questions though you can feel free to pm me.-J

Awesome, thanks for those pics. I think i could recreate that pretty easily.
If you start with a push-puller kit like this:

And add long threaded rods, you'll be good to go.
