Question Does any one had take out the turbo before??

First for all, i would like to know is it hard to take out the twin turbo??? anyway i m half way already....

I would like to know the step for turbo uninstallation. I had took out as much as intake portions already, and i m not sure how to take out the Y-pipe and the intake pipe(the pipe at the back to IC).

I rack up the car already and i have been looking for the gap for my hand to go into the bolts and nuts; but i just cant find the way to do it.....Based on my limit experience, plz help me !!!

Also the reason i want to take out the turbo because i smell the coolant burning, and i see some white smoke came out from the gap between intake manifold and Y-pipe one time before.

the rear turbo inlet pipe? try from underneath the car if you cant get it from the top, also, make shure you spray the bolts that hold the turbos on with wd40 or somthing like that, and its still gunna be a bitch. remember that you have one turbo oil inlet, (two 17 mm wrenches to loosten the flare fitting) two coolant hoses about 8mm-10 mm in size with hose clamps, two turbo drain lines that bolt to the front and rear of the block, via two 10mm head nuts each. remove the air pump first, then the downpipe , (four 14mm head bolts), then youl have more room to see whats there

yea the little heatshield has to come off first to get to the bolts... and you dont have to take the rear turbo inlet off, it will all come out like a big japanese jig saw puzzle

if there is a heatshield around ur "downpipe", you probably have a precat and not a downpipe. In which case the heat shield is a bitch to take off....search for it on this forum, there are plenty of threads that will help you

ps.. if your having trouble just getting that little heat shield off thats only held on by 2 small bolts, maybee you should stop now, cause it only gets way harder from here, everything will be frozen on there

Hmmm...you smell burning coolant and see a whisp of smoke from the turbo area and you are REMOVING your turbos? Why? You likely just need to replace the coolant lines to the turbos. Don't you have an FSM?

Listen to amp: you aren't supposed to resuse any of those o-rings, gaskets, or nuts on the turbo assembly.

^^ What he said . Why/who gave you the idea that the turbos needed to be taken off to fix this.? I'll guess a Mazda dealer for grins. ( Due to my most recent experience with a "post Mazda" FD at my shop.

And you are making alot more work for yourself by taking them off. Unless you just feel like replacing all the gaskets that are on that side of the engine. Might as well replace the LIM while your that far and the FPD,etc.. All good ideas but probably unneeded.

okey.... the thing is i used coolant pressure tester to test it, and it had no drop on any pressure. Is that werid???
any idea?? if only the coolant line to turbo is will be more easy for me to work on it.
when i warm up my car, or come home with the car cool down.... i could smell that when i open the hood.

About 2-3 weeks i need to refill the coolant about 1/2 gallon
