Does 500 rwhp make an FD more enjoyable to drive? (13b only)
Next question. Why do people go with the gt3 porsche for a track car instead of a track day car for 1/3 the cost that will easily out perform it? I think most people that track a gt3 have other cars for street use.
Road America in a 500rwhp rx7 would definitely be enough to scare yourself if you're looking for adrenaline.
Make sure your brakes are ready

^ Very cool
I've always wondered why there aren't more space frame sports cars: light weight + rigid = win. Expensive to produce, however. More manufacturers need to follow Ducati's lead.

I kind of see the shape of a lambo in the roof bar lines lol.
I want to do something similar when I stop throwing money at my rx7 and finish school. I would probably build something smaller though. I even lean towards single seater sometimes while day dreaming.

"I wonder what the nearest big track is to me in the states. I've wanted to go to a "foreign"/far away track for a while now and try something new hehe. Any suggestions?"

While that may be true for slow speed corners and is actually logical, it is not the case for mid to high speed. I have direct experience with the car both with other people driving and driving it myself for a decent amount of time. The car just does not have the same acceleration coming out of corners like my FD does. The way I see it, it may have the grip but its ***** aren't big enough to compensate for the beer belly weight post apex. Like I said it has phenomenal grip and the car is stable at all times but it needed a few more ponies if they were going to make it like a tank in my opinion. Keep in mind, this is directly comparing it with my FD and not FD's in general. I drive a lot of differently setup FD's that I tune and know they wouldn't be the same results.

The GT-R isn't my cup of tea but it's going to be a legend.
The clock always speaks for itself: http://www.fastestlaps.com/car4717b80e35715.html
The GT-R is the car FD owners love to hate: it's big, heavy, ugly, and stupid fast ha...no one can deny it's ability to get around a track fast, but "legend" may be pushing it a bit - purist cars like the Noble will always be faster in the hands of an experienced driver because you can't mask a 1,000 pound weight differential strictly using electronic gadgetry. Still, for the price, the GT-R can run down many cars costing alot more

that reminds me, there's a guy who goes to the track in an atom, and if it was legal to race it, it would kick a lot of ***, he can pass people almost anywhere on the track like they are standing still
they are really excellent right out of the box, however nissan gives you some hurdles to modding it. we get one at the track, and they unplugged the power window motors, and the ECU would not let the car pull more than 1G in the turns.
once its been figured out there is a lot of potential, but you can't just go "up the boost etc" or it'll cook the trans, or go into limp home or something.

I think Forged Performance has pretty much all the bolt ons for the GTR including fuel and boost etc..... that will over ride the stock ecu. I may be completely wrong but from what I understand this is becoming a pretty popular car to mod.
AMS and Switzer are the shops who are heavily modding the GTR. I saw AMS's car down at the mile. Without a passenger seat, no back seat, and a cage the car went 9's in the quarter. Those guys are producing 750 to 850 on these cars pretty easily. I imagine it would be a handful on a road coarse even w/ the awd.
It is impressive and I would consider it for a DD.

We'll since we're linking Top Gear clips, and talking about Porsches...this immediately came to mind..

Mid-Ohio would be 6.5 hours for me so I'll try the Glen first
.thewird
I've had the bike at Mid-Ohio a few times. Midwest tracks tend to be bumpy because of the freeze-thaw. Lots of patchwork.
If Mosport was smoother I think it would be one of the very best tracks in North America. Road Atlanta is good, too

You're actually closer to The Glen than I am. I try to go every year, so maybe I'll see you there. It's my favorite. FAST flowing corners, probably the closest thing to Spa you could drive on this continent, and there's something about the fact that you're blasting through places where F1 cars did.

lol, yeah i know someone who got bit, i'm sure there is a ton of potential, but you have to be careful
people figured out what the issues with the trannys breaking was too, it was something simple IIRC. AMS has the solution to that too.

AMS is really something.
I bet people start criticizing the car because its big and heavy and its not a pure "sports car".
LOL jealous people i say.
It's not a purist sports car and never will be, it's another luxury high power gadget laden sports car for middle age beer bellies; the kind of out-of-shape people you never see on a sport bike because they're too fat and care about comfort too much - the kind of people I don't have much in common with
For a paltry $10k you can experience true freedom and the power to leave these bloated boxes in your rear view....fat rich guys can't go there

It seems to me that conceptually new sports cars are converging with the games like GT3 or whatever. The computer is doing everything and you just point the thing. Just going fast by itself may be some fun, like getting shot from a cannon, or dreams of flying, or riding in an airplane, but, its just not the same as driving a mechanical conveyance.

agreed! the most fun i had in a car this summer was in my 1958 TR3. i think without driving something like that, its impossible to really explain how nice driving actually can be, and that all of the "features" in a new car actually get in the way of a good driving experience.
