Do you guys get stopped alot?

by stopped I don't mean by cops.. (each time I pass them with my FD I go slower than a turtle...) but by random people? in Miami people stop me and keep saying these things averagely:

- at the light just to say nice ride or even ask me how much I would sell it for.
- whenever I fill her up and leave the gas station, people actually stop on the freeway and let me pass. Anyone that lives in MIA knows this never happens.
- going through the car wash, other customers stop and start asking all sorts of questions about the car.
- guys in other rides give you a long hard stare... this one really creeps me out unless it has curves and a short skirt but guess not used to guys giving me looks. Yesterday I was at a stop sign & a tool in a brand new M3 bmw passed really slow in front of me giving me a really hard stare. creepy.
- and of course the usual honda racers that stop next to me n start flashing for a race, but im more for conserving the car, so I just pull a "Meet the *******" race were I hype up the racer and I just let them flow away alone.

idk I know you guys might probably be used to this but this is all new to me. I am not used to random people talk to me so often. Specially in Miami, cuz most are constantly hostile to one another.

So I guess this is the charm of the FD, I always had the love for it, but i never thought the reaction of others would be so different compared to when im driving my black 06 civic. So just wanted to share that experience.

btw this is my FD, has nothing really after-market yet, everything is plain ol stock.

They're all begging you to go buy some silver spray paint and paint your stock center caps .

BTW, as a guy with racing stripes on his FD, you've never got more looks than when you slap large vinyl stripes on a car. That'll get you noticed.

FD is just a damn fine looking car. 'nuff said.

(And, please, for the love of god, paint your center caps! Stock wheels with flaked-off center caps KILL me, takes no time to fix and makes the car SO much happier)

I think it's just because they are so rare. I see another FD maybe once every other month, if that. I have been driving modified conspicuous cars since I could drive, so I guess I'm used to it.

haha yea I know Dale, need to get that fixed. Don't know where to get the spray with the exact gray color, but right now have something more of a concern with the brakes;

changed the brake pump, master cylinder, ABS unit, and the car brakes good now but on speeds over 60 or so it doesn't break that good. So gonna have to take it to Dragonmotorsport to see if they can fix this issue or Idk if I should go to Midas or Pepboys to fix this brake issue.

It's the sexy curves.

Then again, women don't get cars in general, they're far more concerned with yapping on the cell phone

"guys in other rides give you a long hard stare... this one really creeps me out unless it has curves and a short skirt"

so if the guy has nice curves and a short skirt on, then he isnt creepy anymore? lol.

i went out the other day for a car wash here in san diego (people dont really talk to other people here) and a couple people stopped me to say nice car, one was a little kid, makes all of the hard work worth it!

I got stopped in the projects by some buff thug the other day just to complement how he never sees them on the road....

get used to it, it gets repetitive in terms of questions.

I've had people come up to me and talk to me about my FD quite a few times. A guy at barnes and noble (bookstore) asked me what I would sell it for, a guy at a car wash asked all sorts of questions, and some chicks at a gas station told me it looked like the batmobile.

On average I would say I get talked to about my car once a week and I only drive it 2 maybe 3 days a week.

So a fat guy (curves, man *****), in a skirt would do? lol

I get the LS question all the time. My reply is that if I wanted an LS/RWD car, I would have kept my C5 Z06.

Get used to it. It's just the beginning. You'll find out what I mean as you progress with the car.

I agree with Dale to paint the center caps. Then get some TEINs, sell the wheels and get some 18's.

When I am cruising in an FD it's actually unusual to get comments etc from other people. I think a lot of people at first glance assume it is a C5 corvette

Every time I go out. People trying to race, giving thumbs up, honking, etc. It's the only FD within at least 50 miles that I know of. I've only seen three my entire life around here.

Some people are just idiots though. I was trying to make a left hand turn (with a RHD RX7) and this guy is making a left on the other side of me. He creeps up almost right in front of me and just stares at my car. He can turn left, but he doesn't, and he's blocking my view of the other side as well.

Should have seen the reactions we got from people as three of us caravan'd from Chicago to Indy for mazdafest last week. Thumbs up, stares. I swear people would forget they were driving and look at the 2nd gen an two 3rd gens on the highway. I have had cops wait for me to come out of a store to talk to me about my car... Get used to it
