Do I have to seal the oil pan with mount?

and it seems that if I don't do it with mount, it's very likely that the oil pan will leak. just wondering if it's true.

I'm doing this engine for a friend overseas, and I got the short block done but I don't have the FD mounts. should I just ship it without RTV, then re-apply it when his garage overseas get the engine? or I can just seal it up without the mounts and call it a day ?

I use "the right stuff" for imports. Permatex makes it. Its the grey one. I also use an oil pan brace.

to the question, yes the mounts should be installed at the same time as the oil pan is installed. if you seal only the pan then it has a much higher chance of leaking and the mounts will not torque down properly if installed after the sealant has cured.

if someone sends an engine without the mounts i request they send them or i ship the engine without the pan installed and it is up to them to seal it properly.

I do have "the right stuff", it's just that I don't wanna apply it cuz I don't have the mounts.

it's kinda late, Im leaving NYC probably this week, not enough time to send the mounts over from the other side of the earth ... once they get the engine they can seal it themselves.
