Direct power to fuel pump?

Searched a little, didn't find much. I want to run a direct current line to my fuel pump, (also relay and seperate switch) to ensure constant pump voltages under high boost. Anybody ever tried?

Good choice.... I have been running the set-up for some time. My battery is relocated to the rear bin. I have the switch mounted in the bin also. Also adds as a security feature. You need to run the relay and switch into the 12v of the pump. I ran the ground to the back frame. I would have to look at it to give your more specifics. Make sure you connect all the wires securely! I soldered everything to be extra careful. Good luck G..

Can either one of you post some pics of your set up??
I've seen few in the past and can't find them.

Thanks!

Good stuff fellas, appreciate it very much. I plotted out a diagram and all that good stuff, however I "JUST" wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any points from some expereince.

PICS of all this fun stuff soon to come.

just use the stock wiring for the stock pump to activate the relay. running seperate power wires for the pump obviously.

here are a few quotes I picked up..

Therefore @ idle and cruising pump will only see ~9 volts and then battery voltage when under boost:-)

Do not use boost-a-pump with higher voltage on those Supra pumps....they will not last !!!

just wonderin

if you wire up direct, and even if you are using a relay ...if by any chance something goes wonky with the car..I hate to say ..you have an accident or a similar scenario..is the fuel system still going to be powered up?..if it has no cut off ..you get where I'm goin on this...(woof)

O.o does the stock ECU cut fuel in the event of an accident?

dont know which would be worce, being crushed to death or being crushed while burning

without a cranking signal input to the ecu the fp is disabled after a few seconds. that is why the pump is only on for a bit when the key goes to on position and then shuts off

Yea.. If your knocked unconcious and the fuel pump is still going spraying fuel everywhere that would not be a good thing.. I think I might reroute to the ignition wiring...

Im not to sure how the PFC work exactly but im assuming it just ground the pump tigger wire which in turn shuts the circut open and fuel pump relay.

Im not to sure why you would want to change this, the power is coming strait out of your battary to the FP fuse - > circuit open relay -> fuel pump relay -> pump.

the only thing that might help would be changing out the rather small power wires to and from the different relays.

If im not getting what you mean please explain more
