different radiator fan mod????

power from fan power fuse to my own toggle switch, output a switch to splice into fan power. this should allow the fan to operate with fan on or with switch off, normal temp relay will operate. does this make sense to all??? anyone want to chime in. i just tried the scudin....(cant spell the rest) mehtod and didnt have any luck. my dad helped me and i know he is more than capable even though i know i am also. he is a maintance electrician and he came up with the idea. what you kids think???

Take a look at this site,
http://rx7.voodoobox.net/howto/fanswitch/fanswitch.html

I haven't tried it, was going to do this when I get a little free time.

hmmm, that is exactly the mehtod i used. dont know if it was the same thing under a different name. like i said though, something must be up with my wiring, as i have one of the earliest FD's made for the US. i attempted to hook it up without luck. this new method seems like its the best method, quickest, and easiest. it would allow turning the fans on at anytime. two settings, on and high. i run them on high all the time right now when i have the AC button on. with summer approaching, i dont want to lose my AC usage, nor do i want to lose my fan usage. im going to try this this weekend and let everyone know how this works. should be a fan mod that every site should have if it does. no more jumping relays for fan speeds etc...

There are a number of ways to do this. I think mine is the most flexible option: Buy a cheap turbo timer and just wire it to keep the fans on intead of the motor. No need to run the fans at other times. Just adds to the electrical load which robs HP. Now if you're overheating you should get to the real root of the problem...

If you use a turbo timer for this purpose, you can set how long the fans stay and don't have to remember to set a switch on first. The scuderiaciriana is cheaper to do (unless you're buying a fog light switch)...

Wrong.

If you are stuck in traffic, the car will idle with no air flowing thru the radiator. The car will heat up quickly, even on a cool day. If you have control of the fans, you can turn them on so that the car doesn't get so hot. Many times the fans don't come on by themselves until the car is well over 210 degrees. My fans didn't come on until 220. Now I can keep the temp around 185 by turning on the fans.

The temp range on where the fans come on is how the car was designed. The car was tested extensively in high heat conditions, etc prior to determine the engine's operating temps. A hotter engine makes more power and is more energy efficient (up to a point)...I can understand not wanting to see the gauge rise, though... I use my turbo timer after the motor is off for the fans so it does not heat soak all my hoses and wiring. My operating temps are fine.

Not sure how much your production date has to do with it but it works great on my 93. There are four fan relays over there, make sure and hook it up to the smallest wire on one of the relays (the large ones carry the 12v load I think). I tested the switch on all four relays before picking one, they control different speeds.. I think one of them did nothing which may be what happened in your case. The one I selected allows me to flip on the fans without even using the key. HTH..

If you have a FC like an Haltech or an AEM something you can programm, can't you change the temp that fans turn on and mod your fan speed / turn on / off with the FC !??

By FC do you mean Fuel Computer? FYI, the two you mentioned, as well as the Apexi Power FC, are complete ECU replacements, not just fuel computers. I know with the Power FC and Datalogit (add on hardware/software) you can change the fan turn-on temps.
