Difference between Spirit R: Type A and Type B

Hey, i'm looking at buying a Spirit R, so far the only types i've seen are the Type A, though i like sound of having 4 seats in the car. I just wanted to know what the differences are besides the 2 and 4 seats, is the type B external shell different to the type A?

Longer maybe? uglier?

any more information that you guys can throw my way will be valued on what to look out for when buying a spirit r.

ta guys.

For the final production year Mazda have released a limited edition of the RX7, the Spirit R. The third-generation RX-7, first launched in 1991, has a particularly distinctive exterior design. Its lightweight, compact and high-output rotary engine enables the driver to feel superb driving pleasure. Epitomizing Mazda's spirit of sports car, RX-7 has won popularity among the customers since its 1978 launch. Mazda envisions the production of the current RX-7 model (FD-3S) to come to an end in August 2002.
The Spirit R series is available in three models: the Type A, a two-seater with a five-speed manual transmission; the Type-B, a four-seater with a five-speed manual transmission; and the Type-C, a four-seater with a four-speed automatic transmission. All three models are equipped with common interior and exterior features, such as BBS-manufactured 17-inch wheels, red brake calipers, and interior panels with a special soft coating, while each model shows off its own equipment to make a difference from the other.
The Type-A Spirit R is a two-seater model fitted with the Recaro-made exclusive red full bucket seats. These lightweight seats reduce the overall chassis weight of the vehicle by approximately 10 kg. Braking performance is enhanced through the use of large drilled type ventilated disk brakes for all four wheels and high rigid stainless mesh brake hoses. The Type-A Spirit R model is the ultimate RX-7, boasting the most outstanding driving performance in its history.
The Spirit R is available with five outer panel colors including Titanium Gray Metallic.

hehe, hey man. thanks, i seen that i just happened to miss the part where it says. "All three models are equipped with common interior and exterior features".

"Braking performance is enhanced through the use of large drilled type ventilated disk brakes for all four wheels and high rigid stainless mesh brake hoses."

This is exclusive to the Type A right?

Also, if anyone can add anything more from their own personal experience between the Type B or Type A would be great.

would it be wrong to go for the type a over the type b?

Taken from my webpage;

"There are three kinds of "Spirit R": the "Type A", "Type B", and "Type C". The "Type A", which accounts for 500 of the 1,500 "Spirit" models produced, has a 6-speed manual transmission, and is said to have the best performance of the three models. The "Type B" has a 2+2 seat configuration and sports a 5-speed manual transmission, and 500 were also made. "The Spirit C" is also a 2+2, but has a 4-speed automatic transmission and 500 were made."

I think the Type-As had black carpet, black bins and the red Recaro carbon-kevlar seats, as opposed to the B and C which had red leather seats (like the US ones), red carpet and maybe red bins. Also, the BBS wheels on the Type-A were gunmetal, versus straight silver like the BBSs on the type B and C. The Type-C came with an auto tranny.

In an old thread...
https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...70&postcount=5
"The Spirit R series is available in three models: the Type A, a two-seater with a five-speed manual transmission..."

The link provided above...used to work. Used to go to Mazda USA'a press release about the Spirit R.
Looking further into it, Mazda wants registration in order to see the press releases.
I sign up, and check to see the press release. Looks like someone f*cked up the article, because it doesn't exist. Links to the Atenza. Figures...

ac3,

You probably should ask in the Australian section:
https://www.rx7club.com/australia-new-zealand-forum-43/

The forum is mainly made up of North American members, and that part of the world only saw FD's from 1993-1995.

Right, although the 00-01 RZs of course had the same red seats, and there were about 350 of those.

To add to this...

There were 3 versions of the Spirit R. Type A was like our R models, and came w/ the Recaros. Type B came w/ red leather seats and rear seats. Type C came w/ red leather seats as well, but I believe they don't have rear seats.
