Needle-valve boost controllers really don't work very well - they still rely on the stock WG & PC solenoids for control, and boost value will vary with conditions (temperature, altitude, etc.).

Well-made ball-spring controllers (with the WG & PC actuator exits blocked), however, really do consistently control boost, regardless of conditions (assuming properly-functioning actuators and that your mods don't over-power the WG and give boost creep).

just kidding around. If you running the stock ECU, fuel cut should occur @ 12.1 psi. BUT, you can get boost spikes higher than that momentarily. I would get a PFC or something soon!

I had a 20 spike while trying to adjust one of those manual boost controllers. Just go like 40 in thrid and really lay into the gas. You'll see 20 really quickly with the boost controller not set right. Be careful with that stuff though. I was having a boost control issue too and it was related to a bad fuel injector connection and low fuel pressure. I forced it up to 15 where it should be and blew it up don't be like me. I now have a new engine, an electronic boost controller, and a better understanding of what went wrong.

So yeah you can spike to 20psi., and I see you already know not to do it again.

IIRC, the stock FD twins (93-95) past past their thermal efficiency at 20psi. Anything after that and you're just blowing stupid-extra hot air into that thermal reactor we have as a motor.

So you have no pills? Did you check for the restrictive nipples? If you didn't I recomend you look for them and drill them out then do this https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...erfect+10-8-10 and you should be fine. The nipples are the one going to turbo compressor housing. I follow that thread and it work fine with the same MBC you are using.

actually i was gettina straight 7 psi range menaning I didnt have any pills in my lines...but I wonder if what happened in your fuel system might be the cause of my hesitation when i step on the gas in neutral and let it idel at 3000 and then on its own starts fluctuating from 3000-2700.
