Determining which type of clutch I have..

Hey everyone.

I've bought a Ogura Twin Plate Clutch.

Now I'm just trying to determine whether it is an actual push or pull type clutch - Is there any way to determine this.

I can't see any serials or names on the clutch itself - only some numbers on the back. See below

I believe it came off an FC, so I'm guessing it's a push type clutch, however he said it should work fine on my FD, but I always thought I would need the push/pull conversion kit if that was the case.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

That will not work in an FD without a slave cylinder conversion. You also need to figure out if it is from an S4 or S5 since the counterweights are different.

Pull style clutches all have wedge collars in the center for the throw out bearing to lock into.

Hello Banzai.

Thanks for getting back to me. I believe it came off a series 5 FC.

So I would need to purchase a FC slave cylinder ? (Is that right?) - Any ideas where I can purchase this?

Would I also be needing to purchase the ORC push/pull kit ?

Cheers

You would need to install the push/pull kit, you can not use an FC slave on an FD. Sorry for the confusing post, I meant clutch fork conversion not slave.

Can't tell from your pics how worn the clutch is. I prefer to install new clutches, but if you got it dirt cheap, I guess it will be worth the extra money you are going to need to spend to convert the clutch fork to push style.

Got it for $700. Taking into consideration - I will have to buy a conversion kit (around 500 dollars + postage) and convert the clutch fork (not sure on the dollars here)

Was much better off getting a new one.

Cheers for your help anyways.

OGURA ended up replying back. There good with their customer support.

I checked the photograph and the serial.

BG-288 : ORC-409D-01Z (For FC3S)
The clutch for FD3S is 409D-04Z.

Some parts are certainly needed for your attaching 409D-01Z to your car.
It is a conversion kit, the sleeve Br, and a flywheel attachment bol, a counterweight of drive an automatic FD3S original parts.
The conversion kit, the sleeve Brg, and an attachment bolt are ORC exclusive parts.

We have ended production of 409D-01Z and 409D-04Z.
P409D-MZ0102 is produced now.
The P409D-0102 is a clutch kit for FD3S which does not need a conversion kit.
