Destroyed my lsd

This is how my differential looks right now after a hard launch at 6.500 with Mikey thompson ET Street Drag radials. I only have 314 whp ,wonder if i get the Kaaz LSD it will hold or it will fall apart too. I dont want to do a massive project with a ford or Chevrolet rear end, want to keep the stock rear end. I want to activate the 2step n do a hard launch n no worries about braking down again. Kaaz will do the job? what ya think?

Once you put the clutch type LSD in to eliminate breaking the Torsen gears the weak link is the thin wall cast iron housing that cracks.

Powerplant frame...

Transmission...

2 step and hard launch on drag radials and you will always be at risk of breaking some stock FD drive line component.

I have read that preloading the driveline helps quite a bit so you don't have the initial impact from the lash.

yep, if you destroyed it at that horsepower level then you need practice launching without snapping the drivetrain(leaving slack and sidestepping the clutch). people have managed with the torsen at much higher horsepower levels just fine if you are careful about it. the clutch type LSD will be less problematic aside from finding a good one that is, as BlueTII said if you broke the torsen with just over 300whp then you will break even stronger units or other things in the drivetrain.

Wheel hop is what killed your diff

Wheel hop caused by the PPF

Eliminate the PPF (power plant frame)

2 parts required, 3rd part optional..yet you will most likely need it

Justin Samberg
FD diff mount $500.00
FD trans mount $195.00

I also suggest you get a diff brace

PFS Diff brace is the best for drag racing $350.00

You also obviously need a Replacement diff assembly too..

learning to preload is the KEY in not breaking your driveline.

I had the same issue about 6 months ago.... I destroyed my Torsen at the local 1/8 mile track.

Here is my fix..

S4 TII clutch type LSD with RX8 4.44 gears
Banzai Racing Diff Brace
Banzai Racing Tranny Brace
Preload suspension before the light turns green

Banzai now has a new tranny brace that looks much better than the one I have.. Even still the wheel hop issue I had is gone..

There is no reason to eliminate the PPF when running the stock trans and diff, it has a function it simply needs bracing.

Diff brace http://banzai-racing.com/store/FD_di...ial_brace.html

Transmission Crossmember http://www.banzai-racing.com/store/FD_Trans_CM.html

While you are swapping out the diff you might want to change your diff bushings. http://banzai-racing.com/store/93+_rx-7_bushing.html

hmmm sooo .. I went to the drag strip today for hte first time and I kept getting wheel hop no matter what RPM I launched . I had to back off and wait for the car to settle down

apart from those braces ? what else can you do? my rear shocks are at the softest setting . I heard that stiffening up my rear shocks may help out ,

and also lowering PSI for better grip (I was running 27 psi ) .

I dont like that wheel hop one bit my friend with an FD broke his LSD tonight because of it . I dont plan to drag my car much if I'm honest but knowing how to negate it if I ever decided to do it again wouldn't hurt

I ran Hoosiers A6 tires down at 20-22psi and launched at 4500rpm, no wheel hop at all. 60ft times were ok, 1.8x sec.
