Defi BF gauge suggestions

im finally decided to get the defi bf gauges for my fd
now its the decisions of what gauges to get
im going with three gauges and two are definitly going to be a boost gauge and the egt gauge.
but i dont know which one will be more important although both is needed
the oil temp gauge or the water temp gauge.
ive asked my friends about it and it was a mixed bag answer
just wanted to see what you guys thought
any suggestions would help
thanks!

EGT is pretty much pointless. Go with:

1. Boost
2. Water Temp
3. Oil Temp or Fuel Pressure

I use my PFC for water temp so another gauge would be redundant and an unnecessary expense. I haven't found a need for oil temp yet - maybe if I open-tracked the car more, I would find oil temp more useful.

BTW - there are a few threads along these lines already. search for "which gauges" or something like that.

i never really thought of it that way
i guess that works out
but doesnt an aftermarket egt gauge moniter the exhaust heat more precise than have it overheat and haveing the overheat light go on.

Water temp is a MUST - that should be one of the first things on the car, probably even before the boost gauge.

IMHO EGT isn't super useful - it's handy for seeing trends when tuning, but most EGT gauges don't react quickly enough to give you any meaningful data.

BTW, I think you meant the stock oil *pressure* (not temp) gauge sucks. The gauge works fine, the sender is the problem. New sender and it's good to go, but really oil pressure isn't that big of a deal. I'd almost rather have an idiot light if pressure ran below 30psi at idle.

I would get Fuel Pressure Guage. The BF Link system has differential pressure warning feature if Boost and Fuel Pressure Guage is connected. It monitors fuel pressure and when the car is under boosting, it will warn you if pressure drop too much and avoid you engine to run lean. I think this will be my next Guage to get for my BF Link system.

Good choice. BTW are you going to get Amber or White color guage. I bought mine white color since they offer only white 2 years ago.

The Amber one won't match 100%. They are more red and the stock is more orange. The VDO guage comes with orange light bulb cap and it match the stock color 99%.

ohh..well im probably goin with the amber/red gauges from defi.
i hope they turn out ok
if its too red, its all good...as long as its close
or i might just change the climate control lights to all white to match the white gauges
my friends got a tri-pod with white ones and kept his stock sti amber scheme and it actually looked ok

What about A/F ratio gauge? Would that be a waste?

I want to see Amber BF Gauge in person too. If you don't like your red we can do a trade. Even though i bought my gauge 2 years ago, i just got those installed not too long ago (I am so lazy) and have minimum use. So they are in good new condition with box and manuals.
