declining boost...problem found...like to share.

My FD has been boosting to 12 psi...12.5 on cool day.

Last Friday after playing with the C6 the PFC registered only 11.4 psi which was odd...but didn't think about it...

Sunday, the PFC registered 11.1 psi...So...what the heck right.

Here is what I found tonight.

Picture 1 show the upper coupler from IC to TB elbow...2 scuff marks, not looking so good. Not sure how they got there...the coupler was used came with the SMIC.

Picture 2 show the oposite inside of the 2 scuff marks...look ok to me. Anyone see anything wrong? look real close (hint)

Picture 3 show tip of a toothpick protruded thru the coupler. The pin hole was from the smaller scuff mark.

Imagine how big of a leak this would be under boost at normal underhood temperature.

Look for the obvious first...

Thanks all!

dude good save!!!!! lol i too have found a big big oooo S_itssss lol.

Well about 2yrs ago, I did the vac hose job, and never got to do the other side near the rear turbo and bov and crv line. I was gettting like 7psi sometimes 6psi most of the time and im like what the heck. i wss thinkng that it was maybe becuase i have 126,234 miles on my OEM engine. SO sincei have a aftermarket BOV i just called mallow mazda and got a new elbo for the CRV and replaced the other side of the silicone lines, and just ike yours tphan i had scrapes on my coupleings, i swapped all of the coupling and i bought a silicon 90* elbo for the y pipe and IC.

RESULTS, I have never felt this car being so strong, and now that i have learned how to set my blitz sbc ID III boostcontrol, its so so so much more fun to drive. i knew there was a seriouse problem when a 2005 civic was keeping up with me lol. so i say before you take her out on the weekend check all your connections and tighten down what ever you can.

isnt stock boost 10 psi? you turned yours up? cause if mine is hiting 12...its cause of creep! lol. On cold days mine creeps up to 13psi...and i back off the throttle cause thats how you **** **** up. If your car is hiting 12psi and u didnt turn the boost up to that, then you need to figure that out. Or i didnt understand what you said up top...which could be the case cause iam alil slow somedays.

I had a similar problem with the coupler on the top of my Y-pipe. Had a 1.5" long tear that I could shove 2 fingers through! Went from 12psi to anywhere between 0-4 psi!! Took forever to find it cuz it was only leaking under boost.

Yes, stock boost is 10psi. It's spiking to 12psi because of the boost leak.
