Replacement Oil Cooler Hoses?

Both oil cooler hoses that connect the hardline from the cooler to the engine are leaking on both oil cooler

leaks at the the connection to the engine where the hose are coupled by the brass clip

- is there a way to pull the hoses off, cut, and recrimp the connector

- replace the hose....i called mazda they said i can only order entire assembly $192?? does this make sense

- any alternatives such as steel braided hoses, etc?

Are you sure its the actual line and not the banjo connection? There are crush washers on the banjo connection that can leak if they aren't replaced.

You can replace them with braided hose but is a little pricey

If the fittings are available seperately, you may be able to take it to a local hydraullic shop (usually for industrial/farm equipment) and have them make you a new section.

Best bet is to take them off and show them the hose w/fittings.

Good luck,
:-) neil

I just had the same problem.I bought a used hose in the for sale section for a fraction of that price. You will need new crush washers though.

I bought the R1 version of that hose (it's a little longer to make it over to the pass side) new from Ray at Malloy and it was like 70 something bux I think. Give him a call and see what he can do for you.
