Debating on Susupension... help pls.

I am unhappy with my current setup, KYB GR2 non-adjustable shocks with R1 springs.

The ride is too harsh over low speed bumps etc. (I know it's an RX-7).

I was looking to improve handling while improving the ride quality.

My first thought was Eibachs with Koni yellows... figure if I turned them to softest setting it would be better than what I have now,

Also was thinking of Eibachs with Tokico Illuminas.... same idea.

I would appreciate if those of you with either of these setups chime in and give me your opinion.

Thanks!

The GR2s actually have some pretty stiff damping...stiffer than the Konis on full soft IMO. However, if you are complaining about ride quality with GR2s on stock springs, I don't know how much suspension "upgrades" I would do if I were you. You might be better off staying with the stock springs unless you want to lower the car as well. If so, I would recommend the Eibach/Koni combination.

That's what I have on my car. Not so hard that long trips are difficult, but not so soft that I can't really do some fun cornering.

I know that Eibachs will be stiffer than stock springs, and I wouldn't mind a inch drop, but my true issue here is shocks. I may just do shocks, was still debating on that.

I would do them both at the same. It's the same labor to change springs out as shocks. So, you may as well do them both at the same time. I think you'd be happy with a Tokico/Eibach setup. That will give you a little drop, better handling, and not rattle the fillings out of your mouth.

That is the general idea of what I want.

That is a great description btw...

I firmly agree. I've used the Eibach Pro-Kits with Tokico Illuminas for street use for many years. I just installed this set-up in my recently purchased '94.

When I went over to Ground Control coilovers with GAB Super Rs on my old '93 FD, there was a noticeable "degradation" in street use, but great for the track.
