De-Flooding question

De-Flooding question
My car won't start and I'm 99% sure that it's due to flooding. One morning the car started up fine, but the add coolant light came on and without thinking I shut it off almost immediately to add coolant. Well when I went to start it again, only cranking. So after doing some research here, I concluded that I flooded the engine.
Following the many detailed instructions on how to de-flood the engine that I found on the site, I removed the old plugs, pulled the fuel pump relay, cranked the engine sufficiently and replaced the plugs with new ones. After doing so, I've still had no luck with starting the car. What did concern me, is that when I removed the new plugs that had been in there for only a few cranks, there was a good amount of oil on all of them. Is this typical?

sounds like you fouled your new plugs. somthing you could try is pump a little ATF through the lower spark plug holes before you reinstall them. only about an ounce. make shur its out side when you do this becuase its ganna smoke alot. run the engine till all the smoke is gone then go and change the plugs and oil. also make shur you put back what ever you have unpluged so far before you try this.

Thanks for the input. Do you really think the new plugs are done? Will carb cleaner be enough to clean them out? Also I checked the voltage at the battery during cranking and it was only 10.6v. Seems a little low to me.

that sucks mine did it again recently, not sure how but ive been lucky both times mines flooded in 4 years its been fixed by cranking THEN replacing the plugs. just sucks they used to be $14 for all 4 but last couple times ive spent $25.
but anyway if the plugs arent helping may be time to try the atf thing.

your new plugs should be fine, just clean the crap off them and make sure they are dry before you put them back in. Maby even use another car and some jumper leads to give yourself a little exta battery power just incase that is the prob.
Iv always managed to unflood mine just by cranking and pushing the gas pedal.
if your still having trouble, do your unflood procedure - leave the spark plugs out overnight so any fuel left in the combustion chambers can evaporate then try again.

Thanks for all the help. Jumped off another car and kept the throttle down wide open and that did the trick! Lots of black smoke for a while though, she's been sittin since December =p
