You can get them used, very inexpensively in the FS section or you can get them new from Ray @ Malloy Mazda for around $100 IIRC.

Just bought one from Ray last week. $101 if I remember. The new one is nice and shiny. And the white rod sticks out a lot more than a dead one.

If you feel up to some DIY, check out this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ashpot-516142/

The price of the part at McMaster has gone up to $66.80.

I checked locally and it was $161 so I ordered one from Ray. I thought about if it was possible to refurbish it myself. But sometimes its better to just order it and save all the pain for something else, like buying curtains for the house with the wife!

Depending on time and mileage it could go bad in a week. I understand both sides of the argument. You could buy 4 used Dashpots for the price of 1 new one. Or you could have the piece of mind that a new one will last 100k+ miles.

For what its worth I ran without one for over a year.

+1 and still running on a dead dashpot. Noticed it when I first got the car and it was stalling at lights, but it went away after getting my PFC tuned and throttle body adjusted.

Still kinda new so don't quote me on this, but I think the guy who tuned my PFC, if it's even possible, made it so that more fuel is injected when returning to idle RPMs or that the fuel compensation kicks in earlier than usual when falling from high RPM. Not the best solution or mpg-friendly, but it's a workaround for me.
