Dangerous water temps??

I was curious as to what would be a dangerous water temperature for my FD. The engine is a PFS street ported engine. If you can give answer in Ferinheight, that would be awesome. ( yaya...i cant spell for ****...)

I know on a average day, and not getting into the boost, i run at and around the 190-200F mark. But today was hot as hell and it was running up close to 240F at some times.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, 240 Degrees.
I would really look into it if it got that hot.

I've seen mine going up to 266F then it dropped suddenly back to 220F as soon as I turn the fan on. Water doesn't boil over or anything. I've got my installed just under the thermostat and wonder if the location may have anything to do with it.

If it does get that high, I would look at the thermostat and test it.

actually, you gain 5+ hp every degree over 240

but yes, should check out those temps, and make sure nothing was damaged

Hey Palumbo, do you have any facts regarding this hp gain. Plus are there any drawbacks like shortening engine life?

I believe they're suppose to run around 205, anything over 220 is very bad.

I agree with Gsr. I would try to keep it within the 200 range. The 7 normally runs hotter then other cars but I wouldn't want it to run that hot.

Oh REALLY? Please provide proof for THAT piece of crap, er info...

Mazda considered the car to be in danger at about 230F, judging by how the stock ecu controls the fans and a/c.

The stock fans don't even come on until 221 F. Most of us feel that's too hot, especially considering the margin of safety is small at that point. The stock PFC setting is to turn the fans on at 100C (212F). To me, good safe temps are anything under 105C (220 F).

Unless you are trying to run the A/C full blast in stop-and-go traffic in 100+ weather, you should never exceed the mid 220s. Obviously, something is wrong with your cars. Definitely check the thermostat as someone suggested.

Where's the cheapest online place to get a low temp thermostat? The factory Mazda item is mega expensive!

Replace the thermostat. Don't test it, just get rid of it. Don't buy a cheap aftermarket replacement. It's not worth it.

Do the fan mod. You can control when the fans come on, so your car will NEVER get that hot again. Anything over 220 is too hot. I like to keep my car under 200.

yeah, I hear that anything above the 220-230 is too hot.
