DAMNIT! Throwout Bearing quick question.
Hey everyone, looks like my throwout bearing is shot, has anyone done this job themselves? How long did it take you to do the job and how much is the part? Can I just get the part at like NAPA?
What is everything that needs to be removed?

Down pipe, midpipe, driveshaft. Drop the tranny, change the bearing. Yes, you should be able to get it somewhere like AutoZone or Napa.
Need a new clutch? Might wanna change that while your at it.

BTW, I don't think you need to remove the downpipe, I did my clutch job with it on.

Get someone that knows what they are doing to help, and you will be fine. If you do it yourself, it may be a two day job

The nice thing is that the throwout bearing is right in your face once you get the tranny away from the block. So if you're working alone, you don't need to set up for moving the tranny out from under the car - a big timesaver if you're working alone and the car is on jackstands.
I strongly recommend getting a universal-jointed 14mm socket and an 18" extension. That way you can reach all of the tranny bolts without much gyration. If those aren't in your toolkit, swing by Sears before doing the job.

Ok agreed. Stock twins down pipe can stay...my down pipe for the T78 comes down at...this...really shitty...angle, and even with the trusty swivle socket, and extention...(I use one much longer than 18 inches...all that torque loads up in the extension, and then...POP!) it seems as though it's always in my way...so I just take it off.

Are there any special tools I will need to remove the bearing? Is there any other things I should replace while down there? Where do I get the bearing?

no special tools needed for the throwout bearing.
You could replace the pilot bearing, however sometimes it's better to take the position, if it's not broken, don't break it. At least grease it up and maybe replace the seal. If you choose to replace it, you can rent the "blind hole puller" from autozone and it works well for removing the pilot bearing.
You should be able to get the bearing(s) at a local parts store or definately at a dealership. I don't know if there are any quality problems with parts store bearings.
Also, don't take offense, but whining when you don't get an immediate response isn't cool...Just bump that ****.
