Angry Damn Plastic Interior

Today, it was above 90 degrees outside, so i go to put the windows up, so that i can run the a/c. Well when i pulled the driver side switch up, the window wouldnt go up. So i pulled a little harder and it struggled to go up. While i was holding the switch for the windows, i guessed i pulled a little too hard and the switch broke in my hand. Now i cant put the window up or down without a screwdriver. Somebody help me, all the plastics are breaking in my car ......Do i have to go to the dealer for the switch?, if so how much would it cost?

You need to go to the dealer to replace the switch. You can find a used one if you are lucky. They run about $130 from the dealer. There has been a lot of these breaking lately.

Wierd, I called mazdaformance and they told me $189.70 for the assembly. I guess I'll actually have to use the dealer on this one.

Power Window Switch

My window switch broke the other day as well. I was able to fix it by taking the switch apart and gluing the piece that is one the back side of the button back on. It had not completly broken but it was loose so when you pulled up on the button, the button would move, but the piece that makes contact with the switch wouldn't move. Anyway, I was told $179 for a new switch and decided that I should try and fix it myself. Seems to have fixed the problem. Since this message is pretty damn unclear, I'll post some pics if you have further questions.

Man, that sucks. $130 for a switch! How do they get away with this crap. You should just install a custom 3 way switch. Up, off, and down. It can even be auto up and down, since it'll be a real switch and not a rocker switch. Go for it.

I just ordered a replacement switch for mazdaformance.com- it was $118.46 for the part and i think I paid $13 for two day shipping.

If anyone needs my old one (the plastic top peices are fine, but the driver side electronics blew.) Ill sell it to ya.
PM me.

Just take it apart and super glue the broken piece. Mine has broke twice in 8 months (two different parts), and this seems to work well (the glued parts have never broke).
