Cycling the ABS Pump

Hi,

I've searched but may have missed it. How do you cycle the ABS pump in the FD when the car is at rest?

Thanks

I'm assuming you're wanting to do it to bleed the brakes?

To be honest I've never worried about it and haven't noticed any issues at my track days. I'm interested to know if there's an answer though so I'll give you a free bump.

Perhaps you should explain what you mean by 'cycle the ABS pump'.

I'm trying to figure out how to run the pump without driving the car and locking the brakes up.

I think you could probably by-pass the relay right at the pump, I've heard of them getting hot and stick and the pump would continue to cycle after shutdown.

I heard my pump cycling one day with the engine off all on it's own. I think it was the relay, it was raining at the time so I didn't mess with it, the 60a fuse burned out, and when I replaced it all was fine again.

When my ABS went out this spring due to a bad connector, I did it by looking at the manuals and all the ways to test all componects. I think the manual tells how to do it, but I do not remember how I did it. If you are good at reading, logic, and basic DC electronics; it is not hard to do it.

I'm gonna reread the manual, I only remember it talking about using the diagnostic tool but maybe I missed it.

The manual will not spell out how to engage the ABS motor, but looking at the schematic on page z-102 I would unhook connector 0-03 ( two wire conn. R/Y AND B/L wires) and then attach a 12v jumper wire to the spade that wire R/Y was attached to. The motor should cycle when that occurs

Alright thanks, I'll give that a shot.
