Custom Cup Holders For Your FD...
Those Ford cupholders don't work. They are designed for a vertical consol not an angled one like the FD. You put it on top the cups will hit the stereo, put it on the bottom it'll hit the consol itself. The only one I found to be worth anything is the one made for Mercedes. If the damn forum ever get the picture upload function fixed, I'll put up a picture of what it looks like.

OK this is getting ridiculous! That is NOT a custom cup holder... it can be mated to ANY vehicle and it definitely does not look stock... defeating the entire reason for my idea... you people really amaze me.

You are, however, entirely free to start another thread about "another cupholder in the FD" or something of the sort. It's just bad etiquette to hijack his thread over other products...ya know?
Well how about I hijack the thread and say they both suck. I agree that the insert one looks ridiculous and doesn't look stock.
Before I saw the pictures I thought, "Well possibly if it was totally hidden and then popped out it might be cool. But to be exposed like that, that's awful. I can't believe any of you are interested. If you are you must be over 50. Coffee isn't worth it gentlemen.
And even the one that folds out to the side. That looks ridiculous. The only benefit to it's ugliness is it might double as a knee bolster when it isn't in use.
Our cars were not meant for drinks or cup holders. If you need to have one, it shouldn't be an open container. It should be a bottled drink placed snuggly between your legs.
My 4 1/2 cents.

The best solution is probably a resealable 20 oz. bottle or a 12 oz. can with the opening turned toward the front, held between your legs. If you're doing 0-60 runs with a full can or cup in your drink holder (if you had one), you deserve to have it all over your car. Personally, I think the molded-in holder looks a lot better than the cheap-o auto parts store clip-ons, but I'm not terribly concerned about adding a cup holder to my FD.
As for the "JDM" pop-out solution shown in the area below the stereo... can you use 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear with that extended?

In the future though, I plan on using a passenger side accessory to hold my mug. Namely, my wife.

An ******* is someone who finds a thread where some is trying to gauge interest in making/selling something, then comes in and tries to steal potential customers. ******* is the operative word. You can't avoid it. If you don't like it, it is too late. If you want to sell your stuff then you do it in your own thread and not someone elses. Otherwise, you are an *******.
HDP,
Here is a simple design that I did about 4 years ago. All you have to do is use a port (3" pictured) for a speaker box enclosure, and some fabrication plastic from a car audio shop for the bottom. You can cut the port to whatever length you want and acrylic the bottom on with some reinforcement. It's the best cupholder I have ever had. Hope that helps. Here are the pics.
