Question Curosity....

Just wondering how many FD owners got an FD as their first Rx7? Has anyone gone through every generation in order?

1985 GSL-SE was first, second was a 1990 vert, then a few GXL models and then the FD. Makes me feel kinda old.

I've had one of each gen. I bought my SA in 1983, my vert in 1988, and my FD in 2000. Still hoping Mazda will bring a fourth.

When I purchased the FB, I thought it was slow, but great handling. And I had to beat the girls off with a stick.

Then I purchased the vert and lost all interest in the FB. The vert was a little faster, had far better creature comforts, the vert roof, was worlds better in handling, and still attracted women.

Getting the FD introduced me to the world of truly fast cars. It still handles, and I have met even more women because of it. Because of the FD, I had a long relationship with someone I probably never would have gotten to first base with otherwise.

I still own the Vert and the FD. The SA would have been nice to still have, but at the time I was bored with it and the rust was killing the car.

Go for it. The 85 GSL-SE I had was a blast to drive. The 13B made a world of difference in the 1st gen (in my opinion). Drove to the beach in the pourin' rain running about 100mph with a pack of cars ( I was 16 then....immature and stupid But man that was fun.

1 important thing i learnt is the closer you leave it to stock the better.

FD is my first RX7. I will soon be buying a Turbo II, and I found a broken down 1st gen that I might buy after that. So I guess I am actually going backwards. But none will be better than my 3rd gen. Peace
