CRV vs ABV color

Alright, Ive been reading alot on here about the ABV and the CRV and how to check them, and from what ive read the ABV is the one closest to the intake box, while the CRV is further back by the strut tower. I'm good up to here, but also what ive read has said that the ABV is the brown plastic one, and the CRV is black plastic. Now heres the problem. I check today and the valve closest to the airbox is black plastic with a pink and silver logo that says ABV and the further one is brown plastic with a black and silver logo that says CRV. everythings working fine, but why the color mismatch from everyone else?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Those parts can function nearly perfectly even if you switched them.

I know. My point is that even if they were completely switched, it still wouldn't matter.

Quote from above. .."Alright, Ive been reading alot on here about the ABV and the CRV and how to check them"

I've never seen a write-up on here that describes correctly how to check CRV and ABV. I can't seem to cut and paste the picture so I'll describe it. The key is to determine if the "C" opening will hold the maximum boost when closed, and if the passage "C" to "B" is open when vacuum is applied to "A". While all the write-ups correctly discuss the vacuum to "A" issue, what they miss is that when the CRV is closed, pressure is applied to "A". Therefore, to test the CRV, put a T on your mityvac line and apply pressure to both "A" and "C" simultaneously. I've never seen a CRV that would hold 15 PSI on "C" without applying pressure to "A" and I've heard of many people needlessly replacing their CRV based on tests described elsewhere (including in the FAQ's). I hope this helps and welcome comments on whether you agree I've described the required test better than it has been described elsewhere. . .

One question though - what kind of fitting do you use to fit your mityvac to port C?

Like the man said above, switch them and no difference is found. Best yet, remove them and go big single

Here is your info. They are marked on the tags. CRV - charge relief valve ABV - Air blowoff valve.

these are for sale in the FS section

later

My mityvac came with a really nifty fitting. Looks like a bottle stopper on one end (attach to port C) and a regular vacuum hose on the other. I have found several uses for this neat fitting!
