cruise control/airbag system removal
cruise control/airbag system removal
Dont use the cruise control, and someone stole my airbags. could really use the extra room under the hood and less flashing lights and objects in and around the car. I know I have seen a write up but searched here and google and looked through the FAQ with no luck.
I have a pretty good idea of whats what but rather be safe then sorry.
basically dont want to yank the impact sensors out and the airbag computer and have loads of lights + beeps + whistles...
and, im not sure how the cruise control is tied into the system if removing it will cause other problems... mahjik.....................

Linky Linky to the post. I've removed most of the airbag stuff under the hood, and beginning to work inside the car once I get another day off. I haven't pulled the CC yet, but it has been pulled during a engine build, so it ISN'T hard. 2 bolts and the cable I think? Do a search for a thread I posted in about the airbag sensors. I think the thread was labeled wrong. Something about the sensor by the door hinge. (instead of the hood hinge) I posted some info in there for him.

Removing cruise control won't cause any issues.
If you want to do it completely though, you'll need an R model blank plug for the ON/OFF switch on the dash. There is also a control module behind the driver's side kick panel and of course, the steering wheel switches.

I added cruise control to my R1 and it was just a matter of installing the controller under the hood (with the cable that controls the throttle), the button on the dash and the buttons on the steering wheel.
Other than those three things not much else is required, so I think you can safely remove those items and sell them on here and terms of the sale just specify that you want the back of the steering wheel and the dash blank in trade (that's what I did when I bought mine).
Good luck.

I added it too. At least on my car, the control module mentioned above was added. And it would probably be needed for anyone buying the other components.

Let me look, I never noticed a disc. Oh snap, that may be your horns, is there one on each side, for a total of 2? Have a, should be, single wire running to them?
Not their exact locations, but you get the idea. That pic is from section S in the body electrical Manual.
