Question CRC Copper Block Weld

How many of you have used the CRC block weld or its equivalent in fixing your coolant seals and is it worth it. In other words would you recommend it. I hear some saying that it will block you turbo coolant passages, mess up your water pump. Then again some say it works wonders and has lasted years. Would I would like is for those who has used it to share your experience with it. If you have not used it yourself please dont comment on it.

Did you follow the directions on the bottle or the directions people have suggested on the forum. How did you go about using it.

In the end, it's a temporary fix (even if it does work for you). You'll still need a rebuild no matter what.

I used it, it worked, but boosting over 13psi blew it right out,

It will hold if you baby it, but definitely just temporary. Start looking for a engine builder. Also the way i did it, was flush, run clean water, flush clean water, flush, purple power de-greaser, flush, water, flush water, flush water, then block weld procedure 2x (used 2 bottles) It will take you better part of the afternoon since you have to bring the car up to operating temp in between flushes, Get one of the stant lever caps so you can de-pressurize the system, and then open the drain and watch out for the boiling liquid!!

I hardly ever boost the car, its mainly just for crusing. In a year I put less than 1000 miles on the car. That and I have the PFC set a 8lbs boost. Also, is it worth it to take out the thermostat or can I leave it in.
Bacon, I think that's why for those who have tried CRC and failed were because they didnt take the time to properly clean the system out.

i know this stuff works on capillary action but what happens if you have air pockets in the system. Or does in need high pressure. Also, how are you supposed to block the radiator and heater. Mahjik, can you post what u did when u used the crc.

I don't recommend any type of quick fix, mainly due to the fact that it attacks areas where there is air and seals it up, which can happen anywhere in the cooling system, most notably in the radiator tubes. The stuff is not easy to clean out either, once its there it pretty much stays in the tubes.

Just my .02 cents

I used it and it worked, held up for a couple of years then I blew my engine (not related to the blockweld). It DID take a couple of tries at it to get it to work, and it DID end up clogging my heater core. But for a quick, cheap fix you can't go wrong to at least try it.

I would think that before treatment, it would be best to bypass the heater matrix and radiator. Does it leave a residue on the inside of the coolant pipes? has anyone ever done the treatment and bypassed the radiator and heater matrix?

No, I never used the product my self. I am not sure if that is what my friend used, but whatever it was caused it to clogg the thermostat and overheat the engine. Luckly nothing was damaged, he then used another product and it clooged the line going from the top of the block to the throttle body, which again increased engine temps (not to over heating) but burst the line. He since flushed the engine, had no coolant leaks, about 4 months later sold the engine, and last I heard it is still running great (has been about 2 years since this all started). Sorry I do not remember the name of the products he used.

Hmmm looked the stuff up on line and he defiantly used this stuff the first time, he had the problem.

I have used it, and it worked great. My procedure was as follows:
http://www.face2faces.co.uk/RX7/howto/oring.htm
Scroll down to the picture.

I did not remove my thermostat, i did not bypass anything, i used one 500ml bottle and the treatment worked great. Coolant seal has been fine for weeks. I Cant comment on blocking turbo coolant lines etc but the car still seems to run good. Recently my heaters havent been working, but this has happened about 2 months after i flushed the coolant 4 times to get rid of the block weld and has also co-incided with my waterpump/thermostat failing.

If I wanted to use a Prestone rad Cleaner to help in the flushing process, where would be the best location to install it. Ie. The easiest location.
