K last night i was practicing some launches and my last one i rev'd to about 4.5 and dropped the clutch and it when CLUNK*. Now it sounds like I have a Stroked v8 with a racing cam and open headers. LOL <------not funny, scary. called my mechanic today he said he says i either blew off my exhuast or a muffler. have any of you guys heard of this, or had it happen to you? If so how expensive do you think this could get?

 

it depends what you broke dummy

if it sounds like it has a cam you could have blown the engine which is hard to do on a launch

 

My guess would be probably just the exaust

 

Yeah i'm hoping its just exhaust...i'll find out around 1 today.

 

Dumb ***. Why dont you look under your car and see if you blew of the exhaust. If you cant do that by your self I think you might need to look at buying a Honda.

 

Well i already did that, didn't see anything so i was thinking there was a hole in my turbo manifold, which i could not see. It turns out i split the exhaust side manifold in half.... Time to upgrade to a T04S ....there goes $1200.

 

Sounds to me like a apex seal maybe, how good does it hold idle??

 

If you can break 1/2" of cast iron launching the car, you've just done the impossible.

It's likely something simple. Take it to a good shop and have them look at it - shouldn't be too bad.

It must of been started uot as a small crack and you pushed it over the edge.

 

This isnt the owner, yet i am a close friend. Saw the car today and the problem was resolved in a few mins. The flange where turbo meets downpipe, actually split in half.. u can see the turbine wheel. He'll get some pics up later today.

 

damn.. he pwned his exhaust. My turbo manifold is cracked.. not to the point where its overly loud........ maybe i should hurry up and fix it.

LOL no it was my second launch of the night. Well i'm upgrading to a T04S hopefully this is the last thing i need to buy for this car for a long time.
