crack in uim
i got my engine started some how (probally deflooded it while checking to see if i was getting spark to the spark plug) but now i cant seem to get a good idle. i sprayed starter fluid around and finnaly found the leak, a crack about an inch long right in back of the front bolt of the UIM
Did this happen to anyone else before? Also, the UIM is aluminum right? magnents did no stick to it so i assume it is.
P.S. i did get a small fire from the starter fluid when i sprayed it on the throttle body (weird but it still happened) so those who do try to find a leak via starter fluid, please have a fire extinguisher ready.

common problem when engine's are pulled/re-installed with the stock engine pull point. This is the reason I install the engine without the UIM and place a bolt threaded thru one of the tranny bolt holes.

i dont think anything broke off (well im hoping). i know a guy which can weld super super good. i saw him cut a very thin peice of aluminum in 1/2 and tig it back together damn near perfectly with no burn thru and good penetration! hopefully i can get him to help me to put down a 1-2 inch weld to seal it
