ok, i did a swap, changed computers and all, to the manual one, and i kept the same rpm gauge, it redlines at 7000 rpms (auto), so my question is, how are my rpms reading? like if im at 2000, is the ecu reading 2500? or is it right, and can i go past my redline of 7000, to 7500, like manual cars?
next, i have a sputtering, cutting out problem, and around 2000 rpms, my car cuts out bad, like it is not getting gas, backfires when i let off the gas, no smoke really, and the check engine light blinks on, any clues, i have new plugs, wires, checked my coil packs, good, vacuum hoses, any ideas, im about to go crazy here, thanks

the sputtering thing happend to my car once but only once. I remeber that time i didn't have enought time to let it warm up properly and left with it still kinda cold the engine check light came on and it pulled to the side of the road. I let it warm up and the light turned of.

I can't think of anything on the cutout. The tach should read the same, it's just labled wrong now (re redline). The auto redline was actually for the torque converter. They can't handle high rpm (which is also why the new RX-8 auto has much lower power than the manual - you can't get into the "meat" of the power band because the torque converter would explode - or something).
