Cost to replace 93 TT Rex Engine?

What do you guys think it would cost to have the engine replace in a 93 rex. I hear they are notorious for shitting the bed at like 80000 miles so I just want to secure my investment. How much would it cost to rebuild the turbos while I am at it? Has anyone faced a similar experience with engine replacement or turbo rebuilding?

all depends on what you want done to the engine while it's being rebuilt.

Engine rebuild is just a piece of the puzzle.

Clean and flow injectors
Fuel pulsation damper
Engine wiring harness
New clutch
New hoses
Motor mounts?
Plugs and wires
Belts
Radiator replacement?
Turbo rebuild?
Intake and exhaust gaskets
ETC....

It all adds up and can cost more than the engine rebuild itself. If you got a Mazda reman @ $2K, then I'd say if you were doing everything right and doing it yourself budget another $2K for a total of $4K.

If your not doing too many mods, allow about 4k (if you do the R&R yourself) This covers the engine with new housings, basic turbo rebuild, fluidyne radiator, a couple gauges, viton vacuum hoses, fuel filter, plugs, wires, gaskets and a few of the little misc things that you find that will need replacing. Of couse, that is if your engine and turbos are decent enough for core/rebuild. Of course, you can never have enough

You can get a reman for $2000. Expect to pay around $1300 for the R/R. And if your turbo's could run you anywhere from $500-1200 for rebuild.

Motor and Turbo Swap

Recent estimates given to me by Shane Benson of AIM Tuning (298F Gasoline Alley, Indianapolis IN)...

$3500 removal of old motor, and install Mazda Reman...plus miscellaneous items...for instance; I know I'll need new injectors, since one or both primary injectors have cracked pintles (thus the strong fuel odors). I'm not sure if there's a core charge for a reman motor. I was hoping to keep my old motor (which is still running, but I'm swapping it out for safety's sake--it has 102,235 miles on it now).

$2600 for brand new Japan-spec twin turbos ('99s) from SR Motorsports. I bought SR Motorsports last set. The J-specs are $2900 from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development.

you paid 2600 for twins? why? should've saved another 1000 and gotten a nice single turbo setup.
