Correct paint finish for front windshield wipers arms and cowl??

The paint on my ws wiper arms and cowl is faded to the point that I can't tell what type of original factory (black) paint finish they had. Did they come painted in flat, semi-glossy or glossy black from the factory?? What about the Cowl??

I have brochures/books that seem to indicate the components came with a glossy black factory finish. But in other photos they seem to have a flat black finish.

Anyone have info on the correct factory finish??

Thanks for any advise or assistance.

I'm not sure, but I would lean towards a flat or semi-gloss. You don't want to have anything that's going to give off a glare if you don't have to...

Thanks. I'll look for it. Actually, at this point painting them with any type black finish would be a Gazillion times better than their present condition.

Where do you purchase all these kinds of trim paints? I assume Advanced Auto or Auto Zone would do?

Another frequent color you may come across is "chassis black". This is a little flatter than semi-gloss but not as flat as flat

it should be a semi-gloss, or a matte finish. its in between glossy and flat

My replacement wiper came Flat Black - The cowl vent-grill piece is unpainted black plastic - I would use flat or semi-gloss black bumper/trim paint on it - I use Plasticote Flexible Bumper & Trim paint, Semi Gloss black on the black trim pieces. I also use it on the interior black plastics as it is a close color/sheen match for the OEM "Soft Finish" rubberized finish used in the 93 fd's

^ Good stuff guys. I'm sure it'll make a great overall appearance improvement once the parts are painted.

Same here. Mine appear to be semi-gloss, but they may have some paint protectant on them which would change it slightly.

Wal-Mart sells black high temp Bar-B-Que pit paint. I used it while converting my stock tail lights to 99 spec. It works great and it'svery resistant to heat. I also used it on other stuff. It really sticks.

Improvisation at it's best!

I have a friend that painted his Bar-B-Que Pit Chevy Orange.
