CoolingMist Water Injection Installed.
#26
Good luck on the install. I just realized I had the water injection installed a week after I got my engine rebuilt; I never ran much boost prior to the install due to the break-in prcodeure. Let us know if you can find any noticeable difference in feel after it's up and running.

Does anyone know if on the coolingmist kits if the pump is always on or is it just on when you hit boost?
Reason I ask is I would like to wire up a light that will activate when the system starts to spray....This way you can callibrate when you get it to come on without actually having the i..........
Never mind...just got a call back from David Hill..The guy who put the kits together....He says the pump only comes on when the system is activated...So if you want the light to come on when the system is spraying you just have to wire one end of the light to the battery and the other to the com terminal on the boost pressure switch. Easy enough...Back to work I go!

Apnea,
can you show where you tapped for the 12v source?
About your post in the other thread about the on/off switch, David had a DIN panel made where he mounted his indicator lights and switch.
I have the stock radio and no more space. The lower plastics beneath the drivers dash seem like a good place to mount the switch.

Here's the finishing touches.
The LED I mounted here and it comes on green whenever the mist is.....ahhhh...Misting...yeah.
Then the switch for the whole system is here......This was my fan mod switch but i took the fan mod out some time ago when I got my PFC to turn them on earlier...Trying to keep the car stelthy as possible. Everything is hidden...If you looked at outside it would look stock except for wheels and FMIC.

When you say the light comes on when misting is this when the 1st stage is misting or 2nd stage. I have the same kit as you except i also got the cloged nosel detector. I have not finished install yet. Just mounted pump and ran wires and hose from pump.
Very clean install. And what are you using for a tank?

Hey guys, I'd like to learn more about these kits. Is there a flow rating on them?
Personally, I'd be wary about the response time of the pump if it's only being powered at a certain boost level. It seems like it would need to prime the lines before any water flows through the nozzle.

Im curious as to i guess there isn't an exact measurable quantity but does it make a significant difference as far as reliability is concerned? Or is it one of those things where if uve got extra cash lying around after most or all of the usual reliability mods have been done might as well do it?

Well, Just a final followup to the thread. Got it all in and tested it. The thing I noticed the most is that at 10psi it feels like the butt dyno is saying there is an increase. But at 16psi I really don't feel anything different.
What I did notice is that it drops intake temps like rock...I took it out the first time and intake temps got up to about 30C on the PFC. I did a 3 gear WOT run to activate the system and then temps dropped from 30 to 19C....Then went back home to solder a connection and went back out...Now it was nice and heat soaked 45C...went WOT and within that short period of on-throttle it dropped from 45C to 17C........Freaking insane.
I am taking it to the dyno over the weekend and will do one run with it off and one with it on to see how she reacts to the water.
