Good luck on the install. I just realized I had the water injection installed a week after I got my engine rebuilt; I never ran much boost prior to the install due to the break-in prcodeure. Let us know if you can find any noticeable difference in feel after it's up and running.

They supplied a water hose which is what I am usinig...It looks like a boost hose but is some kind of plastic material. Much harder than rubber boost hose.

alcohol?

Would there be any benefits from adding alcohol to your mixture? Lets say, 50% like most people say. Or would just plain water do the work?

Does anyone know if on the coolingmist kits if the pump is always on or is it just on when you hit boost?

Reason I ask is I would like to wire up a light that will activate when the system starts to spray....This way you can callibrate when you get it to come on without actually having the i..........

Never mind...just got a call back from David Hill..The guy who put the kits together....He says the pump only comes on when the system is activated...So if you want the light to come on when the system is spraying you just have to wire one end of the light to the battery and the other to the com terminal on the boost pressure switch. Easy enough...Back to work I go!

Apnea,

can you show where you tapped for the 12v source?

About your post in the other thread about the on/off switch, David had a DIN panel made where he mounted his indicator lights and switch.

I have the stock radio and no more space. The lower plastics beneath the drivers dash seem like a good place to mount the switch.

.......
for the whole system I got it straight from the battery. for the light i grounded one end of the light and the other I put on one of the terminals of the switch.

Here's the finishing touches.

The LED I mounted here and it comes on green whenever the mist is.....ahhhh...Misting...yeah.

Then the switch for the whole system is here......This was my fan mod switch but i took the fan mod out some time ago when I got my PFC to turn them on earlier...Trying to keep the car stelthy as possible. Everything is hidden...If you looked at outside it would look stock except for wheels and FMIC.

When you say the light comes on when misting is this when the 1st stage is misting or 2nd stage. I have the same kit as you except i also got the cloged nosel detector. I have not finished install yet. Just mounted pump and ran wires and hose from pump.

Very clean install. And what are you using for a tank?

I got the delux single stage which is one injector...So it just comes on when that is activated...It's kinda bright tho....Looks like a shift light

For the couple of test runs I did I am just using the bin itself...I will end up using one of my nalgine bottles till my buddy can weld me an aluminum tank to fit in the bin.

Could you wire the light into the stock dimmer switch?

Hey guys, I'd like to learn more about these kits. Is there a flow rating on them?

Personally, I'd be wary about the response time of the pump if it's only being powered at a certain boost level. It seems like it would need to prime the lines before any water flows through the nozzle.

Im curious as to i guess there isn't an exact measurable quantity but does it make a significant difference as far as reliability is concerned? Or is it one of those things where if uve got extra cash lying around after most or all of the usual reliability mods have been done might as well do it?

I feel like this is a mod that as soon as you can afford it, you should get. As soon as I could actually have a few extra hundred dollars laying around after motor rebuilds and other broken parts, i got it. This group buy came at a perfect time. I kind of wish i would have had the money 2 motors ago. I would probably still be on that motor.

No you don't have to worry about it...that's why there are the solenoids there or the check valve It helps keep the system "primed" and pressure in the system. Do a search for zerobanger and water injection. The idea isn't new and your concerns have also been thought out my others and worked out. If you looked at the Aquamist system they also have worked out many of those same issues. They even have a more sophisticated system that Coolingmist where you can plug it into a aftermarket ECU and have the water injection amount vary with the amount of boost. The only problem is that no one has been able to get that to work right in a 3rd gen. I remember an old post on someone who was trying it and ended up hooking up similar to the colingmist setup. Plus those options are more expensive.

Hey it looks like aquamist has there forum open again.

Well, Just a final followup to the thread. Got it all in and tested it. The thing I noticed the most is that at 10psi it feels like the butt dyno is saying there is an increase. But at 16psi I really don't feel anything different.

What I did notice is that it drops intake temps like rock...I took it out the first time and intake temps got up to about 30C on the PFC. I did a 3 gear WOT run to activate the system and then temps dropped from 30 to 19C....Then went back home to solder a connection and went back out...Now it was nice and heat soaked 45C...went WOT and within that short period of on-throttle it dropped from 45C to 17C........Freaking insane.

I am taking it to the dyno over the weekend and will do one run with it off and one with it on to see how she reacts to the water.

NICE. Apnea, do you plan to run 50/50 methanol/water at any time?
