Please Help, I just purchased a new to me rx7, and I'm trying to find an aftermarket colder then stock temperature thermostat. Does anyone have any info or recommendations. This car is bone stock.

Why do you think you need a colder thermostat?

Unless your car currently stays at 82C all the time, a colder thermostat won't do any good. And if you do keep it at 82C all the time, you don't need a colder thermostat, because that is PLENTY cool. So anyway you look at it, you don't need a colder thermostat.

The car doesn't run that great at 180*. It likes to be around 195 to 200 for optimal performance. If I were gettting an aftermarket t-stat, I would put in a 190* rather than a colder one.

This is my first true sports car, previous to this I drove a 5.0 (BOOO!), made the switch because I couldn't handle the unrefined econobox feel of the car. It was a common mod for those cars. I don't know much about the 7 other than the fact they have cooling issues, so I wanted to eliminate all chances of overheating if that makes sense to anyone. The overall goal is to replace most of the cooling componets this year, to ensure the car never overheats. i plan to use the usual suspects, rad, ast, all cooling lines, t stat, and maybe a high flow water pump. Anybody know of a replacemnt pump. Thanks for the help.
