Cooling fan help..

hey guys, I just barely noticed it today and wanted to know if it was normal or not. after driving the car normally, after the car gets turned off..the cooling fan runs for about 15-20 mins. the engine light, battery light, miles driven display, and the other small dash lights come on as well.
I have a vented hood that helps out greatly in reducing temps. should the cooling fans be running that long?
Ive had this car for about 2 years but spend a year and a half in iraq so thats why I just barely noticed it. thanks guys.

Are you sure it's "15-20 minutes"? Not 10 minutes? The fan wiring update runs the radiator fans for 10 minutes after shutdown when the coolant temps reach a certain level when the key is turned off.
The dash lights should not be on when this occurs, however. If that's true, then you've got another problem.

stock fans wont come on until engine temp reaches over 105degrees C during driving. Do u have an aftermarket temp gauge? Whats the highest reading during driving?

This is NOT normal, to have the dash lights and stuff like you described come on.
There is a feedback-loop coming from somewhere, most likely a fan mod gone wrong.
I would correct this ASAP.

By the way, what are you doing in Bahgdad?

Yea that would seem to sound pretty normal to me, my Fd does the same. But I'm pretty positive it should not be running at 15-20 min long.

well...I fixed the dome light. the fuse by the kick panel was blown. however all the dash lights are still of if i connect the battery terminals. the batery was relocated to the bin behind the passenger seat by rotary performance.
i used to have a miata battery but now all this crazy stuff happens when i put in an optima. what the problem is? thanks guys.

and IED is an improvised explosive device. also know as a "roadside bomb". even tho they are starting to place them under the asphalt and in the middle of the road where we drive. they burn a tire to melt it then place an artillery shell or homemade explosives rigged and usually dual primed to ensure an accurate detonation. its the #1 killer of coalition forces. i find out this friday actually if i have to get brain surgery done or not. yea i got Pwn3d pretty bad.
war stuff aside...anyone got any tips with my battery problem? thanks guys.

The contacts in your ignition switch may be screwed up.
