cooled down but fans still on for 10 mins

another fan question...did a search but got so many conflicting info...

so i drove my car hard for the first time today. i just got a koyo and downpipe installed so wanted to have a little fun. about 1 mile before home i drove slowly, keeping it around 3k rpm. idled the car for a minute or so. then turned it off. the fans came on for 10 mins. i thought it would only come on if i drove really hard and immediately turned off the car without cool down period, but i think i cooled it down enough, and i have an upgraded radiator...so what's the conclusion? did i not idle the car long enough? btw, it was a night time, not cold, but not hot either. after you guys drive hard what's your cool down routine? thanks

I let it sit for a while, mostly for the turbos sake. If I just finished racing I will let it cool down for around 5 minutes and then shut the car off and then keep the fans on to keep the temps from rising to high due to the waterpump being off. My temps will climb up to around 97'C and then slowly start to cool down into the 80's at which point I take the keys out and go about my day. If you just shut it down without the fans your temps will climb pretty high until the factory fan setting will kick on.
