Coolant question

Hey guys,
This weekend I was working on my 7 as usual and I had 2 things to do. First I wanted to take my throttle body out and clean it really good and second I needed to change my coolant level sensor. I checked the coolant level and it was full so I saved that for last. So i took out the throttle body (god that 90 degree hose below it is a bitch to get off) and cleaned it really well. While doing so I noticed that the seal on the throttle body was all torn up so I'm getting another one. In the meantime I covered the holes on the manifold so nothing would get in. So a day passed and I decided to replace my coolant sensor. So I took the lid off the filler spout and there was no coolant in there.... There was the day before and no coolant leaked out when i disconnected the hoses on the TB. I checked everywhere and I didn't see any place the coolant could have leaked out, unless it dried over night. So I just wanted to see what you guys thought about this. Is it bad or can i just hook the TB back up and fill her up again. I'm new to working on cars so I'm still a noob, but I'm trying to learn all I can. Thanks guys.

Probably released an air pocket when you removed the TB hose allowing coolant to flow down. Not a big deal, especially if you didn't see coolant spilled anywhere.

First let me ask you when was the last time you have flush your coolant system? If you havent done it in the past 2 years? Might as well do it.

Drain the coolant, then top of it. Run the car for about a minute or two and keep an eye on the coolant light. Turn off the car, put a rag over the water pump cap and slowly turn it and when you hear a hissing sound. Just slowly turn the cap and remove it. Then top off coolant again. Do this procedure for about 3-4 times or more if necessary to ensure you've burped the system.

Replace the coolant temp sensor before you top off the coolants while you're at it. Forgotten to mention that =P.

Good luck.

Ok, Thanks. makes me fell a little more comfortable. My engine was rebuild like a year ago so the coolant is pretty new I would think. But its hailing like a mother right now like golfball sized hail and my car is outside. Gonna go home on my lunch and check it out. God I hope its ok...

I would check the coolant just like any other car. When you put it all back together, check the level and add coolant as necessary. This same situation freaked me out the first time I took our my TB and UIM.
