Coolant Problem. Kinda Long,

This seems to have started after i got my Pettit Cool Charge 3 installed. (at pettit)

It all started a day or 2 after bringer the car home but before i go on let me tell you what my shut down procedure is when i park it in the garage.

Pull it in turn off the car, turn the key so only the electricals turn on so the fans come on. Put a fan in front of the car with the hood up, so it also cools the car faster and gets the heat out the garage before i shut it. I do this for about 5 mins or so not to kill the battery start the car 1 last time for a min and then shut it down for good..

at first it would only happen when i did a couple of WOT pulls on my way back home from work, i drive the speed limit after that all the way home not to boost. After i pull it in and do the shutdown, i come back about 5 mins later and hear my coolant buzzard going off, so i feel the coolant hose and there is no pressure in there.. open the cap and nada in there, thinking it was air bubles from the install of the I/C i added water to it. This happened about 4 more times.

Now it happenes mostly when i go WOT, but tonight, i drive home on cruise control the whole time, so no boost. do the same thing and buzzzzzzzzz. and i smelled coolant, i look under the car, and the overflow tank was letting out coolant, not to much but an ok amount. i open the cap and nothings there, open the AST and its full. i dont know wtf is going on. could it be the cap is bad, the rubber does seem a little odd..

Got a rebuild about 4k miles ago because of a coolant seal failure. here are pictures of the cap not sure if you can see it.

like one side of the rubber is a bit bigger than the other.

Thanks for Reading my long post of my problem if any one could help i would appreciate it.

Sounds like the hose to the overflow tank may be leaking air/vacuum and not allowing coolant to be returned to the radiator as the engine cools down. In that case, coolant flows to the tank as the engine heats up and the coolant expands, but it will not be "sucked" back into the radiator when the engine cools down. Check the hose carefully for air leaks or just replace it. Might as well replace the rad cap as well since it does not look particularly healthy.

yeaaa im not running evans, and the car doesnt run hot, hottest it gets is 85c normal driving, and barly goes up on a couple wot pulls. plus running evans paying 30 a gallon and having the car spit out coolant, its pretty much spitting out 60 dollars. Just going to go with a stock 13psi one... do they sell them at the auto store, or would i have to order it online?

13 psi cap.. They sell them ay any auto parts store. Bring the old 1 w/ you to match the size. You could also rent a pressure tester and pressurize the system overnight to see where the leak is. Also stopping the car and turning on the fans isnt really cooling the car. The fluid is not circulating any longer so it will still be warm in the engine. Save yourself some time and let it sit a minute idling only after hard driving and then pulling into your driveway. If you cruise the last mile or so to your destination you can turn it right off. I do pop my hood to let heat escape. I believe that will help your rubber hoses andengine harnes from excessive heat wear. G

Might want to do a coolant system pressure test. "Rent" the tester from your local Autozone or auto parts store. Get the import adapter. If that checks out, maybe replace that cap. They do go over time and leak coolant.

And to answer the question its from the filler neck... if the cap doesnt fix it, ill rent a pressure tester next/
