Angry coolant leak!!! help!!!

ALright i know this has been up on the board lately. But i have tried every thing!
The problem is i drive my car around for 30min to hour then i stop and park it, after 2 or 3min or so i have mass amounts of coolant leaking from my coolant resavoir. iknow i cant spell. any way i checked my ast the cap seems fine, i aired out the coolant system, it still does it, i looked for pin holes in the lines there are none. then the scariest thing happened the cars temp gauge went up past the half and was at like 3/4 to the "H" but no annoying add coolant light? the only thing i can figure is this and tell me if this might cause this problem, My water pump pulley is spinning backwards because of how the shop rigged my belt to fit with out my airpump. would that cause the car not to run right? this all started after i installed my frount mount. im so confused and frusterated! some one have any suggestions besides blow up the car?! thanks!

Rebuild time! WTF were you thinking running your water pump backwards?! Coolant rushing out of the overflow tank is a symptom of coolant o-ring failure. Your engine is overheated and you will likely have to buy a whole new engine, you can't rebuild yours because you probably warped the rotor housings. Good luck.

The water pump pulley should be the problem...Hopefully it's not what littlemilla3 said. But here's hoping it's something stupid: Your caps could be on backwards. Switch the AST and filler neck caps and hope for the best. I believe the AST is the one with the spring.

A shop mixed mine up and I couldn't figure out why for the longest. Felt like a tard when I looked at the caps and found out they were backwards.

are you running your fans when your car is on? (have you done the fan mod)

what exactly is the watertemp when yoru driving around and after you shut down (if you don't have an aftermarket watertemp gauge, why the hell not??? this is not a flame, just a very serious question.) if you can't afford the gauge, sell your car and start buying some damn food, your gonna starve haha. if the car is new, go and buy one asap and install it.

the water pump pully should obviously be fixed first, get a greddy belt to eliminate the airpump.

oh yeah, a quick test to check if your coolant seals are going is to either look at your exuast and if there is white, sweet smelling smoke pouring out of it, its rebuild time. also you might wanna uncap the coolant refill spout and hold your throttle at WOT with the engine off and try cranking it, if coolant gushs out, there is a good chance your water seal is gone. (note: with the gas at WOT, your car should not start, the starter should just turn the engine over a few times or so. dont hold the starter down for very long, just a few secs should be long enought to see if water is shooting out of the refill spout.)

BTW: there are about 7 coolant lines in a stock FD, some cant even be seen without removing quite a bit of hardware. if one has sprung a pinhole leak, it might be causing the problem. also, (ethyl glycol) coolant is flammable...

No! theres no white smoke coming out of my exhaust. when i drive the car the temp is fine and no coolant leaks its when i stop the car and its sitting there that the coolant seems to back wash in to the resavoir. i have ordered the greddy pulley kit. The car operated fine except for the leak every time i stop the car. again there is no white smoke coming out of my exhaust so i dont think i have a seal problem yet. Agian the temp only starts to rise when i stop the car and turn the key to auxilery to let the fans run on the turbo timer. Anyway anymore suggestions?
thanks agian !

The shop designed your water pump to go backwards because of the air pump removal? What shop was this? Did they not have access to ordering a 29 inch belt or something?

the other thread about coolant problems recently noted that coolant might be going in to your oil system if its leaking. you might wanna try changing your oil and checking if there is coolant in there. i mean it cant hurt, its always good to change oil

idk about 29 inchs, isnt it closer to 30 inchs. in anycase, could you take a pic of how they ran the belt? im kinda intrested on how the shop has seemed to rig it so it runs backwards.

Wow, every single post about a coolant leak turns up vastly differing answers.

I think you have a very simple solution. Run your water pump the correct direction! WP's are directional (much more efficient one way than the other), so your engine is developing hot spots from low flow velocity, and they cause the coolant to boil at shut-down, expelling large amounts of coolant form the engine.

There may also be other problems (bad caps, etc.), but you need to correct this first.
