Cooland buzzer on all the time. (help please!)

Ok....

I finally got the engine back together, in the car... all connected up and it started!!

Only thing is that the coolant buzzer and light seems to be on all the time?? We filled it up with a load of coolant. Then more, then more, then more. Must be near 7 litres or so.

It seems to be full and not taking anymore. The only thing is that the coolant buzzer/light seems to be on all the time.

I've not taken it for a drive at the moment until I sort this problem out.

Does anyone have any suggestions?? I was thinking possible a dodgey sensor/plug/wire, or something not plugged in properly? Something that's hopefully an easy fix.

I'm gonna check the level again in the morning. But it was full and wouldn't take anymore.

Someone suggested that the sesor might not have been plugged in? I'll double check that tomorrow.

Any other reason's why this could happen?

Any help appreciated!

Jim

The sensor wire runs through engine harness to a black plug that connects to the battery harness around the power steering pump. I'm pretty sure the wire is a black with red stripe so check to see if that is connected.

Did you burp the system yet? I,m wondering if a air pocket could cause your problem.
Did you disconnect the throttle body coolant hose? it runs between the uim and the bulkhead, this is good to let the air out when your filling it up.

I'll have a good look tomorrow.

If I can't sort it out easily before I get it to a specialist, is there a way to stop it going off? IE, earth the connection or run a positive feed to it?

The coolant is topped to the max etc, so no prob there.

I disconnected the hose when filling, yes. But all I done when filling was poured it in quite slowly while occasioanally squeezing the lower rad hose.

How do you "burp" the system?

You can turn off the sensor by grounding the wire to the block. There's a easy way to do it. Take off the plastic crossover pipe, which will expose the buzzer wire and harness. Just expose part of the wire and ground it to the bolt under the crossover pipe.

Go to the X-12 connector on your driver's side shock tower and ground the Brown with white stripe lol

This is X-12, if you are not familiar with it:

Cheers mate...

If the sensor's all plugged in etc and after a drive the coolant is ok and temps are ok, then I'll do this to shut it up! lol. (I'll test it tomorrow after work)

Is it a common annoying problem?

When the car has cooled down, take the cap off the filler neck, this burps the system, refill as necessary.
