Column Mount Pod doesn't fit!

so i bought the steering column mount gauge pod from RX7store.net and it doesn't snap on like the stock one; it just sits on top of the lower half

if i blow at it, it will come off, has anyone else has this problem?

is there anything i can do to secure it better?

thanks

Negative - don't call.....the pod is "bonded" to the top half of your stock column cover by simply applying a little clear silicone adhesive and putting a rubber band around it to hold under curing is over.

Place it on the cover to check fit, then apply a bead of silicone adhesive to the seam so it will stick to the bottom half. Secure and cure - then you are ready to mount a gauge.

wait, i don't think we're talking about the same pod, the one i have completely replaces the top half of the column cover, it doesn't "glue" on top of the stock one.

I'm pretty sure he meant "bonded to the bottom" half, not the top half - I think he meant the one but said the other.

It's suppose to be that way so don't bother calling the RX7Store. Just use some RTV to hold it in place.

How are you able to install the gauge and wiring if you have to use silicon adhesive to attach this upper piece to the lower plastic cover?

Does anyone have any more pictures of this?

Thank you Mr. Links... that pod does look good (I have mine on "order" from RX7store... hopefully mine arrives soon). So did you end up having to use silicon adhesive to install this pod?

How would you remove the pod later on if its glued to the bottom plastic piece?

If you use RTV, it just pulls right off when/if you need to remove it.

Fit and mount the gauge in the pod, then position the assembly on the steering column, run the wires (and vacuum line if it is a mechanical gauge) back up under the dash and then, when everything is positioned and hooked up exactly the way you want it, use black silicone along the bottom edge of the pod to "glue" the pod to the bottom half of the stock column cover. You can use duct tape (easy) or rubber bands (a struggle) to hold the parts together until the silicone sets up.

Mine has been trouble free and solid enough for 7 years. If you have to take it apart later, it's easy to yank it off and reassemble.

Thanks for clearing that up everyone, looks like I'll have to pick up some RTV and duct tape.
