Clutch Question

My car has basic bolt-ons; Dp, mp, cb, intake, FMIC and will be running 12psi on my PFS. I am hoping for something in the neighborhood of 300whp on a brand new reman. My question is this, on this mild set-up, is it rerally worth upgrading the clutch? I am going to purchase a new clutch while my car is in pieces, but am not sure if I can stick wiht O.E.M, or if a ACT s/s is neccesary. Any input would be appreciated.

i dont think you will need a new clutch for that..... unless your clutch is going out already.

Well thats not exactly the question. I am replacing the clutch regardless. The question is, wiht my mild mods, is it neccesary to drop the extra 200 or so bucks on an upgraded clutch versus an O.E.M.

Yep, I think you will wear out the OEM on those mods fairly quick. You have a FMIC and a mp but I'm running higher boost and my stock clutch is gone. I'm in the process replacing it with an ACT S/S clutch and a RB 9.5lbs flywheel (waiting for some othe parts to arrive to finish it up).

You may as well upgrade the clutch from OEM so at least you have room to grow should you decide to later down the road. After starting this clutch job, I hope I never have to do it again (big thanks to the local guys for the help!).

I'm with Mahjik, there are some pretty mild ACT clutch kits and it gives you room to grow. Upgrade that little ****.

Good luck! Make sure to either get your current flywheel resurfaced or purchase a new flywheel for your clutch install (if the flywheel has never been replaced).

I had almost the exact same setup.
My OEM clutch with brand new Racing Beat S/S disc only lasted about 3 months.
Need a new one now....
