Unhappy Clutch Problem

I've been having this problem since i changed my clutch. I bought new Clutch kit from Rx7.com it was the one that replaces stock clutch but with 15% more power or something.

Anyway my problem is this: Sometimes when i drive the car slow (shift at or before 3k) the clutch seems a little hard. Then when i change the gears around 6-7k rpm, the clutch becames so soft, you would think you can push it with your pinky. Also when is this hard and i press it, 1 inch from the floor, it just kind of looses it's harndes and drops to the floor. It almost feels like it wont function at all.

As i said, it started happening when i changed the clutch, I Bleed the system couple of times and still this is happening.
Anybody has any suggestions what might be? Has anyone experienced these sympthoms?

Thanks

I wonder if it is recommended to replace the clutch line with a stainless steel one. On my 88 TII, I bought a Bonez Street Strip and after putting it on, I had some of the same symptoms as you (especially spongy and engaging near the floor). It was recommended to replace the line.

well mine, when is hard, engages at the top, like the clutch is worn out, but i know it's new. And when it's so soft it engages at the bottom.

I tried adjusting the pedal, and i got that 1inch play, but as soon as i change gears at around 7k it becames so soft and like i didn't do anything.

Any other comments. Thanks

I had that clutch on my car. It lasted 10k mi. My mods at the time were (Intake, SP,DP MP, CP, ECU). I tore right through it.

I did notice a great deal of difference in feel as I drove it. Some days it would be quite stiff, and then after a hard launch, it would be the "push with your pinky" feel. It was quite finicky. Sometimes it would catch earlier than others.

I JUST replaced it last week, and did the clutch line at the same time, now I've got a consistant feel throughout. A good deal of that is the clutch line. The stock line expands with increased pressure, and general wear (It's rubber or silicone, if I'm not mistaken). The stainless lines don't flex, if they do, it's minimal; leaving you with a consistent feel. I assume you can change this line out with out dropping the tranny (a clutch is a repair best left to professionals, IMO). They're $28 from the rx7 store. Hope that helped a bit,

oh--redbase...I put the bonez clutch in last week, with the stainless line, and it's INCREDIBLE. It took a day to get used to, but I love it. Try the line.

Well, I just changed clutch hose to SS hose and rebuilded slave cylinder. I also bled the system a lot and the results are: It's a little better, but still when i change gear close to redline, it becomes a little softer. Not as softer as it used to be but a little softer.

Also sometimes when i press the clutch, and when it comes almost till the floor, like maybe inch from the floor, feels like it just goes all the way down, like it doesn't work at all.

What does that mean?
How can i tell if there is still some air in the system?

Any sugestions are welcome.
Thanks

I don't know if this will apply or not but I did a SS brake line conversion on my Suzuki GSX-R. Used DOT3 brake fluid when I was supposed to use DOT4 and no matter how much I pump the brakes it would not get stiff. It worked... like **** but it work and then I realized WTF I did wrong. Like I said I don't know if this applies.

I'd try a different clutch. The ACT street/strip is great. I have it and love it. You might wanna try that one. I don't remember if you mentioned exactly what brand of clutch it is or not, but that might be the problem. Just my .02 Laterz.
