Clutch pedal engages too high...slave issue?
Try as I might, I can't get the clutch to engage until it's about half-way up the total travel distance of the pedal. Not alot of other FDs in my area, but I don't think this is "normal" and I'd like to lower the engagement point.
The clutch I have (ACT SS) is in great shape. Plenty of disc. Checked the fork, which was replaced with the clutch about 40k ago and it's fine. Fluid level is full at the back of the reservoir and I've adjusted the rod to the slave as much as I think I can reasonably get away with but I didn't seem to gain much..if any.
Is this a symtom of a slave needing to be replaced? Any other suggestions?

If I am reading this correctly, you would like the clutch to engage closer to the floor. My clutch (the same clutch as yours) engages near the middle of the throw. My preference would be that it would engage further from the floor.
It has been my experience that aftermarket clutches frequently engage at different points than OEM. On one of my 1st gen's, I had to actually change the length of the slave cylinder push rod to get it to work right.
It doesn't sound like you have a problem with your slave cylinder. How long have you had the clutch?

Sorry Adam, I probably wasn't clear, but yes, I want it to engage closer to the floor.

It has always been my feeling that shifting will be faster and cleaner with an engagement closer to the top of the throw. The only advantage I can see in having the engagement closer to the floor is starting from a dead stop.
You spin the pedal adjuster rod into the pedal assembly to lower the engagement point. There is enough adjustment there to cause the clutch not to disengage when the pedal is depressed.
I also adjusted the clutch switch that controls how high up the pedal is at rest. Have to be careful with adjusting the static pedal height because if the engagement point is not lowered also, the clutch will be partially pressed and can cause slippage. I spent some time playing with the adjustments and now have a very short pedal throw that engages close to the floor. I guess everyone likes it set up different.

Yep. That's why I mentioned earlier that I had played with that rod about as much as I thought I could....safely. I don't know, I'll look things over again.

Actually you said you "adjusted the rod to the slave", which happens to be inside the trans not at the pedal. I really had no idea how you had done this but was not going to argue with you.
