clutch issues

OK, so i just bought a rhd 1993 rx7, first thing i noticed the clutch slips badly. The last owner told me it has a twin plate clutch but he did not tell me which brand nothing.

so if I'm not mistaken the twin clutches uses there own flywheel, so i got a stock flywheel because I'm going to a single plate spec stage 4.

my question is can i use the same throwout bearing that it has now is it the same size as the oem unit, and does it have a flywheel counterweight? or do i need to look for one?

what else should i be aware of if i want to change from the twin plate to a single plate clutch?

any info would be appreciated

if its a true twin plate clutch then its all different. If i am not mistaken twin plate clutches are push type. When you purchase a twin plate it come with a kit that replaces the stock FD pull type clutch fork assembly with a push type. You will have to purchase a stock fork assemble and the slave cylinder 3 bolt plate.

I have an Exedy Twin Plate and it still uses the OEM throw-out and fork. My fork cracked a few months ago and had to replace. What type of clutch is it? It might bve cheaper to just replace certain parts if needed. Most twin disk clutches you can order parts individually instead of ordering a whole new clutch kit.

twin plate clutch

ok, today we finally got the clutch out.

it say's on it OS wb 480

I'm guessing it's a Osgiken clutch., now where can i buy replacement discs?? any vendor or website that selll these?

help

or option #2 go back to a single plate clutch, which i think i have to convert back to pull type and this means i have to look for parts, what parts would be needed to change back to pull type???
I already bought a spec stage 4 and also a stock flywheel, just for backup. my plan is to convert it to single plate and after i get all the info on the twin plate i will replace it back.

so my question are what else do i need to convert back to stock pull type?

and where can i get replacement parts for the osgiken.

Im sure you have to change the slave mounting plate back to a oem one if you go back to pull.

Or you will tear your release bearing and crack your fork. The previous owner of mycar went from a os clutch push type to exedy twin pull type and left the ghetto slave plate on.

Had lots of problems till we found out about the plate.

OK so i'm still debating what to do i'm leaning more towards buying replacement clutch disc, rhdjapan has them in stock.

now the 2 disc alone cost around $600, so i want to be sure it's only the disc i need to change, because a friend told be careful maybe it was the pressure plate that was the problem and it caused the problem in the first place by not putting enough pressure on the disc and making the clutch slip. what do you guys think??

So now i'm not sure what to do, i think i'm going to just buy the 2 disc and clean everything else with a sand blaster and install it and hope for the best.

let me know what u guys think
