Clutch install ?

The motor/clutch package i purchased came with the pressure plate, disk and flywheel already connected to the motor. I was trying to use an engine stand so i removed the pressure plate/disk from the flywheel.

If i reinstall the pressure plate/disk to the flywheel do i need any special tools?

If i can just reconnect it, from there the tranny housing will bolt right up to the motor ready to install?

For some reason the car was left in gear when i removed the tranny, will this cause a problem?

Thanks everyone i'm almost there...

You'll need some sort of clutch alignement plug. It's a plastic plug that simulates the tranny to align the clutch.

Yes.

thanks for the response, the tranny is something i've never worked on before. Would this clutch alignment plug be something i read on the helper site (rob's) as the clutch aligment tool, that is labeled a late model ford + other alignment tool? Thanks!

I got one at AutoZone for $2. I haven't used it yet, but it looks like the same thing I see everywhere else. According to their computer it should fit our cars.

Yea the one I got with my ACT kit said "ford" on it. Thought it was kinda weird but it worked.

Oh, save that tool for when your clutch fork breaks.....

Ok so i have my motor with flywheel attached. I have my pressure plate/disk sitting here next to the tranny.

What is the best order to put it on?

Reattach the pressure plate and disk to the flywheel. And bolt the bellhousing to this? Would i need an alignment tool in this scenario? Confused...

If you install the clutch in the tranny, you won't need the clutch alignment tool. The engine and tranny will "self align" themselves when you bolt them together.

I suggest that you put the tranny in neutral before the installation to the motor. It should be easy to do. Just shove the shifter into position, and put it in neutral. You don't have to bolt it in.

put the clutch disk on the flywheel, stick the alignment tool in. put the pressure plate on. run the bolts down evenly in a criscross pattern. pull out the tool. you check the pilot bearing?
