cleaning hks filters

anyone just wash out their hks foam air filters instead of replacing them? what would be the harm of cleaning them with water since they are a foam element?

They get brittle from the heat and washing them would tear them up more. If you do that, they might begin to break apart while you are driving and your turbos will be chewing up your foam filter fragments.

They are cheap, just replace them. Get some K&N oil and work through them before installation.

Just get new filters. They are relatively cheap and can be found at your local race shop. Don't use any oil on them, they are foam so they absorb liquids. They are not meant to be cleaned at all. They are disposable.

Cetchup is correct. HKS filters are not meant to be reused. They have oil in them so washing them would strip the oil....the oil is NOT the same as a KnN filter.

If you don't have any filter oil you can use WD-40 instead.

Peace,

WD-40 is not the same.

Replacement filters are 10-20 depending where you get them. Just buy new ones.
